Portland Oregon is a Communist country. What else would they teach?

When I was in 11th grade my AP US History teacher assigned us an optional extra credit project in which we would read Howard Zinn’s text, a history book written by a mainstream liberal, and a history book written by a conservative, then do some research and write an essay saying which of the 3 texts we found most convincing. I didn’t do this project but I heard from the kids who did that the grading was objective and based solely on how well you supported your argument, not which interpretation you chose.
In that context at that grade level I think it was useful in teaching critical thinking and research skills. Judging from the article, though, no alternative to Zinn’s text is being presented in Portland and certainly no debate about its accuracy is being allowed. Did we really expect anything different from Portland?

My trip across Check Point Charlie into east Berlin as a teenager in 1962 pretty much crushed any possibility I would ever be a proponent of that crap.

Why . . . ? does one really need to ask that question about the Public Schools? We have had the answer in strobing neon lights for years now.

Because we are about 20% of the way into a communist revolution.
