The Left is a lawless group. Now they are trying to force radical feminism into the Constitution despite the time limit expiring decades ago and most States that previously ratified the ERA have rescinded or sunsetted their ratifications.

The Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel issued a memo earlier this month saying that the ERA's time limit has expired and so Congress can not alter that time limit.

Isn’t this dead? Did they pass this symbolic thing hoping low information residents think they actually did something?

The ERA will ERASE more protections for women than it will give.

THANK YOU LORD IT EXPIRED IN 1982. Some of the most unfair legislation ever passed under the sham of ‘fairness’.

Draft them women.
And make 50% of the combat jobs women.

In addition to the ERA being expired, the Dems have another major problem.

When the Amendment was first written, it was for the purpose of “giving equal rights to WOMEN. Now that we have 57 genders, “Women” should only gain 1/57th more Rights, i.e., only a 1.75% increase.

That's the issue. The Left is claiming that the time limit is invalid because the time limit is not in the ERA's text and so the proposal is immortal. The Trump Administration has ruled it dead, the House will say it is the 28th Amendment, and the Senate will likely agree with the Trump Administration (but don't forget the Senate's RINOs). There is an ongoing lawsuit brought by three States challenging the late ratifications, so this may end up at the Supreme Court; all bets are off at that point.

Congress itself placed the time limit on the amendment and it failed to pass in the time Congress allotted.

The three main features of the so-called ERA were the promotion of: drafting women for combat; destroying marriage; and forcing women to use bathrooms with men.

Those things are basically in place now. It took longer to do it piecemeal without the ERA but basically the agenda has been completed (if the draft were to return).

Still, you would have to say passing the ERA now would be a bad thing.

The act marked a meaningless virtue signal, since ratification of that wholly unnecessary amendment is no longer an option. Its life expired decades ago.

But being the party of form over substance and no respecter of laws, the ‘rats went ahead and “rat”-ified it anyway.

“The Left is claiming that the time limit is invalid . . .”

Standard operating procedure on the left- because they’re holier than thou, nothing ever expires until it turns out their way.

Reminds me of the Florida recount - if they thought 117 recounts would give the election to Gore, they’d persist until they got 117 recounts. And of course the previous 116 would mean nothing, and there would be no reason to do any more than 117 because at that point any change back would not provide the result they would have deemed virtuous.

If they had to persist 117 years to get a 38th state to approve the ERA, they’d behave in exactly the same fashion - no matter how many states had rescinded their approval in the meantime. They’re the virtuous ones, and no matter how they get to their desired result, it’s got to be okay because they’ve decided they’re right (and to hell with anybody who feels otherwise).

I remember when the Equal Rights Amendment was a big deal in the 80's. The proponents swore up and down, forward and back that it would not, I repeat would NOT require allowing men to use women's bathroom or locker room facilities. HA!
