Natural selection is leading to more transmissible HIV in United States [Tangled Web Alert]

HIV that is being transmitted in large population clusters in the United States is more likely to cause high viral load in people who acquire it, leading US researchers to conclude that natural selection is causing HIV in the United States to become more infectious and virulent. The study by Dr Joel Wertheim of the University of California San Diego, Dr Walid Heneine of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and colleagues is published in Nature Communications.

Scientists have previously theorised that rapid onward transmission of HIV after primary infection would tend to favour the selection of HIV variants that produce a higher viral load set-point (the level at which viral load stabilises after the early peak in viral load during primary infection).

In the absence of early diagnosis and effective antiretroviral treatment, selection of these variants through more effective transmission would lead to a shorter period of asymptomatic HIV infection but more widespread transmission.

But wasn’t giving them “marriage” supposed to reduce all of this risk?

“But wasn’t giving them “marriage” supposed to reduce all of this risk?”

In fantasyland, maybe.

Someone once pointed out that in the heterosexual world there is no such thing as an unfettered male sex life since women are too smart to let us get away with it.

But in the gay world it’s two (or more!) male sex drives at work without any brakes on them at all, so they have astronomical numbers of partners. A petri dish paradise for the HIV virus.

The main thing that keeps it from wiping out entire populations is that it isn’t as easily transmitted as many other viruses. Or maybe wasn’t until now.

But wasn’t giving them “marriage” supposed to reduce all of this risk? Darwin Awards -

The Darwin Awards are a tongue-in-cheek honor, originating in Usenet newsgroup discussions around 1985. They recognize individuals who have supposedly contributed to human evolution by selecting themselves out of the gene pool via death or sterilization by their own actions.

I would say it’s being spread by “UN-natural” selection.

I read an article that said most gay men have over 250 partners before age 25. I think it was age ranged from 15 to 25, after 25 to 50 it averaged over 300. That’s an average, I’m assuming that some had quite more, and didn’t answer truthfully, I’ve seen comments about them bragging of having a thousand or more. Sick

A HS classmate of mine died of aids in 1989.

His roommate was a HS classmate of mine as well (but he was not gay) Told us at the reunion in ‘90, Mark would go to gay clubs or parties and hook up with 8-10 men on a weekend, every weekend.

I came from a small town and never knew any gay people who were out. I was pretty naive. Thought he was exaggerating at the time.

“The main thing that keeps it from wiping out entire populations is that it isn’t as easily transmitted as many other viruses. Or maybe wasn’t until now.”

If HIV every became airborne and easily transmittable, tolerance and acceptance of gays would vanish overnight.

The gov’t would round up all the HIV positive folks, gays and drug users and ship them off and not a word would be heard from the populace. Pc would die overnight.

The best response would have been to quarantine those with the disease from the moment it appeared ... but the poofters basically demanded civil rights status for their little outbreak.

“Doubtful, very doubtful..”

Doubtful it would become airborne or doubtful the gov’t would round HIV folks up?

“If HIV every became airborne and easily transmittable, tolerance and acceptance of gays would vanish overnight.”

That’s for sure. But it’s not likely at all to transform into an airborne virus.

We used to have a retired CDC scientist posting here at FR, she had worked on Ebola among other scary bugs.

The one bug that she believes poses true near-extinction potential for the human race is the hybrid flu. Swine flu. Bird flu. Any animal-human cross. The 1918 Flu was one of those.

The reason she that fears the flu is because influenza is highly contagious and mutates very quickly. And the animal human hybrids are the most dangerous of all. They can kill a strong, healthy adult within a single day, courtesy of a cytokine storm.

Humans evolved rapidly into the beings we are today by developing porous small intestines. It subjects us to deadly viruses which enter through the digestive system. The phenomenon accelerates evolution many-fold.

As long as Humans don’t become extinct it benefits the species. For individuals in the species, not so much.

Humans didn’t “evolve,” they were created more or less as they are.

Created means they had a Creator.

Funny how we were created with intestine walls which get porous in times of agricultural overcrowding, and subject us to deadly viruses. I believe we were created as well, but facts are facts. Evolution is how we were created.

The immune system exists to protect humanity from extinction. Normally a person’s immune system does not know that its host is not one of the last two humans on earth. However, human immune systems have learned that, during times of agricultural overcrowding, we are not in danger of extinction. Therefore the immune system can sacrifice individuals for the purpose of making the species more disease resistant.

How does the immune system recognize agricultural overcrowding in order to subject hosts to disease and death? Humans consume carbohydrates when they rely on agriculture. Carbohydrate ingestion subjects us to disease.

Don’t homosexuals have a shot to make the HIV viral load untransmissible?

You have a massive brain-to-body ratio, a very short intestinal tract, eyes in front of your head, and an extremely developed social structure. Look at other animals and figure it out.

What could be happening is that the Hiv virus which survives best is the highly infectious and virulent ones. The less infectious ones and the less virulent are being killed with the meds and reconstituted immune systems. As long as the vectors keep schtupping at a high rate and take their anti hiv drugs the more resistant and potent hiv will survive and infect and kill those faster who are first being exposed. Sort of deja vu all over again. “Killing me softly” is the theme song. Stupid is as stupid does.
