Don't Ban Bible Verses in the Military
American Center for Law and Justice ^ | 1/13/2020 | ACLJ

Christian faith in the military is once again under fire.

For years, our brave men and women in the military have been able to choose to select dog tags from a faith-based company that inscribes Bible verses on them.

These scripture verses – such as Joshua 1:9 (“Be strong and courageous. . . .”) and Psalm 27:3 (“Though my enemies attack me, I will not fear . . . .”) – have ministered to those in combat.

Now, an extreme, anti-Christian group has demanded the Bible verses be banned from dog tags, even calling them “poison.” Even worse, the military caved, demanding the Christian company “remove ALL biblical references from all of your Army products.”

https://gallerybyzantium.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/1314E.jpg The Soldier's Cross...It is reported that this cross was given to troops by the Tsar of Russia. This design incorporates the St. Andrew Cross with extensive lettering “King of Glory” appears in Slavonic abbreviation at the top. IC XC for “Jesus Christ” is on the upper cross bar, “Sn Bzhii” for “Son of God” on the lower cross bar. At the base there is a skull with a G and an A on either side for “the skull of Adam”, and the letters MLRB for “the place of the skull has become Paradise”. To the left of the upright is a spear, and the right a staff with a sponge. On the reverse side is the Slavonic verse, “Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered and let those who hate the Lord flee from before his face.” Tradition teaches that when the Apostle Andrew preached in southern Russia he placed a life-size three-bar cross at his side. While explaining the Last Judgment he tilted the foot plate to signify that those on the right side of Christ will go up into heaven and those on the left will go down into hell.

Keeping God out of the military is NOT a good thing especially considering that He is in charge of everything . . .including our very next breath.

In His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind. (Job 12:10)

I still have several small bibles issued by the US Government in WWII, with a statement by FDR. Printed in the US Government Printing house.

What part of “nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof” don’t they understand?

Psalm 144.1 is the warrior’s verse. “ Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle”

Can one have any verse from any religious text on their dog tag?

Too bad. We agree that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

Deal with it.

God’s not going anywhere any time ever, but the godless are mostly dead now and soon will return to dust when their body’s time is up.

Take your pick.

I’m not sure . . . but this country’s obsession with leaving God out of the picture is not a good thing. IMHO this world is in “the last days”.

You are correct:

War of words erupts over religious dog tags in US the military
"...Weinstein had demanded that military branches stop allowing a faith-based enterprise – Shields of Strength – to distribute the tags among military personnel. These tags, he said: 'Poisons the constitutionally-mandated separation of Church and State …' "

I tried putting “Hedonist” on mine after the first set disappeared in a recreational establishment.

Got told to report to the CO, was informed curtly:

“The Army does not accept hedonist, dismissed.”
