On Sunday’s broadcast of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) accused the Trump administration of giving “contradictory information” on why the president ordered the killing of former Iranian Quds force commander Gen. Qassem Soleimani.
Paul said, “I think we’ve heard contradictory information. We’ve heard from the secretary of state that they don’t know where or when but it was imminent. That to me does seem inconsistent. He thinks he can square the circle but to me it seems pretty inconsistent.”

I generally like Rand Paul but his libertarian side can be a pain in the azz. I don’t lump him with Mike Lee though who is a bought and paid for corruptocrat who has already been investigated for campaign finance and has now sold himself to the Indian tech lobby.
Frankly I don’t care, ‘cause I think there is a whole additional intelligence line on the MIDDLE EAST AGENDA of the Mullahs and the Quds Force general that is greater than just some attacks on some U.S. embassies. And the administration is trying to not expose its intelligence on that line. Better than the Mullahs neither know nor suspect how much we really know, and telling Congress will mean telling the Mullahs.
I say go ahead DT give them any excuses necessary, they can’t handle the truth, they can’t even be trusted with it.
There was no imminent attack coming from Osama Bin Laden, but did these idiots complain about that?
Soleimani was targeted for elimination based on his PAST actions. That is enough to justify the strike.
Anyone with 1/1024th of a brain knows Soleimani would have engineered another attack. That was his job.

Rand, you’re being too-smart-by-half. Like Pompeo said, there’s no inconsistency between the two statements.
Simple example:
A KNOWN ‘Amish’ ME cell is acting hyper nasty so much that his neighbors drop a dime. So the Feds are sitting on his apartment and notice he walks out in July with a puffy down jacket on and wires sticking out the back. Cops know that that day there’s some Amish guy on trial in DC and there are protests throughout the city. After guy leaves, they bust open door and find bomb-making stuff inside.
Do the cops take him out based on what they saw in apartment AND what his history/pattern have been and how he left the apartment and what was stirring elsewhere in the city EVEN THOUGH they specifically didn’t know WHERE EXACTLY he was going or WHEN EXACTLY he was going to self-detonate? OF COURSE! If they had any brains. It was IMMINENT even though it wasn’t SPECIFIC

I’m guessing he’d rather have an embassy or two get sacked with dead ambassadors being dragged through the streets BEFORE we take action?

While Police are getting the guy out of his vehicle and giving him field sobriety tests etc, the REAL DRUNKS get in their cars and take off in another direction, while the ‘DD’ has to be released.

Paul and Lee would maybe prefer the spilling of American blood before taking prophylactic action - and maybe it’s NeverTrumpers like them that require the info to be “sketchy” to protect sources.
Paul and Lee are controlled conservative opposition to the beltway establishment. Pay no attention to their political posturing.
I prefer to pay very close attention to better know the enemy...I remember when most of us considered Lee a hard-core conservative and Presidential material - then TDS pulled back the curtain on him...Paul has it more together as far as consistency goes...but he’s still a chip off the old blockhead of his Dad.
Theses fellows need to channel their energies to destroying the Socialists.

No it is not. As we saw from by the attack in Baghdad on the Embassy they were in the midst of operations. So knowing they planned more attack, but not knowing exactly when would indicate imminence

He likes their immigration policies, even if he still disagrees with their foreign policy.
