Allies of President Trump are pursuing an effort to acquire right-leaning news channel One America News Network, according to people familiar with the matter, in a bid to shake up a conservative media market that has been dominated by Fox News. The investment firm Hicks Equity Partners is looking to acquire the channel and is pitching other wealthy GOP donors to arrange a bid of roughly $250 million for the channels parent company, the people said. The firm is owned by the family of Thomas Hicks Jr., co-chairman of the Republican National Committee and a close friend of Donald Trump Jr. The efforts come as Mr. Trump has periodically rebuked Fox News for being too criticaldespite its opinion-show hosts general support of his administrationand has praised One America News Network. The channels opinion programming is known among its cable-news peers for its praise of Donald Trump and its advocacy for conservative causes.

FOX sucks . The Murdoch Boys are P whipped and have no Beans.
They have taken a Great empire and trashed it.
Their hideous wives have seen to that. Rupert is so busy trying to make Jerry Hall happy... she just wants his dough.
What a very pathetic Bunch.
Sad!
Roger Ailes is turning over and doing back flips in his Casket!
I can see it now . . .
CNN - Conservative News Network
Whatever they do . . . DO NOT allow any Saudi businessmen invest in the company. I believe that was the death knell of FOX.
$250m sounds too cheap.
Which is the correct way to open negotiations...
It would be really nice to see some investment into the network. Despite having a few decent reporters, most of their air-time looks like amateur hour. At this point, no one takes them seriously, and unless they improve, no one ever will. If they want eyeballs and advertisers, they need quality programming and talent.
Leave OANN alone.
Buy out CNN or Fox (Fox sold their entertainment wing to Dizknee, how expensive could the rest be?)
If that’s not feasible, start a brand new network, hopefully on internet and/or app for tv.
OAN needs to get some more people for their news, its a bit stilted with no discussion. I love that they just present the news without having commentators presenting both sides. I wouldnt pass up Hannity or Laura, and I like Tucker. Shannon Bream can be good but basically by the time she comes on the news of the day has been beat to death.
I do think after his second term his cause will be building a media empire.
I love One America News. Except for Tucker, Sean, and Laura Ingraham, I really don’t watch FOX any more.
Put Jerry Rivers, Donna Brazile, or Juan Williams on the screen, and I wear out my mute button.
.............. Buying out CNN would be a cataclysmic event in the News/ Media/Information/Propaganda world. ..... Would be hilarious to watch what would happen ....... Jane Fonda/Ted Turner and all ...... Bet they would roll over in their graves .... Well .... After they suddenly die of a massive coronary heart attack that is .....
Good.
Their buy out is a bad idea.
The problem isn’t who owns OAN, the problem is they don’t have market access. CNN gets $1 per cable or satellite subscriber per month just for being there, that’s over $1B per year of free money before they sell ad #1. OAN doesn’t that revenue and moreover, the owners of the big cable companies don’t want them on their system at all.
I would think that OANN is making money hand-over-fist since they’re essentially the one-eyed-man in the land of the blind.
OANN is the only national news source that I trust and the only one I have a subscription for.
“They are a tiny subscription based service.”
Do you mean OAN? If so, it isn’t subscription. It’s part of our DirecTV normal lineup.
I really like Liz Wheeler’s show.
OANN is at least somewhat moderate, whereas FNC can be overly-biased on any number of topics, on top of being obnoxiously repetitive. I’d admittedly be very unhappy if OANN changed hands, especially to those allied with a sitting president. That screams bias and controlled reporting.
I wouldn’t be able to trust anything on it after that.
Because CNN is the one that defamed him.
Would be nice if COX Cable would add OAN to their lineup.
Had it on DirecTV, moved and now do internet only, so paying $5/month now. Worth it to me. No FauxNews now.
If OAN is not interested, then:
START A NEW CONSERVATIVE CHANNEL.
Acquiring OAN is NOT THE ONLY WAY TO PROCUCE A CONSERVATIVE Channel.
God knows we need it. The more, the better.
Some of us have cut cable - OAN is available for $4.99/month via the Roku app store (and probably a few other venues.
