We have just entered a new decade, a decade where every month and every day will be absolutely crucial in deciding what the future will look like. Towards the end of January, chief executives, investors and policymakers will gather in Davos for the 50th anniversary of the World Economic Forum.
We demand that at this years Forum, participants from all companies, banks, institutions and governments immediately halt all investments in fossil fuel exploration and extraction, immediately end all fossil fuel subsidies and immediately and completely divest from fossil fuels.
We dont want these things done by 2050, 2030 or even 2021, we want this done now as in right now.
We understand and know very well that the world is complicated and that what we are asking for may not be easy. But the climate crisis is also extremely complicated, and this is an emergency. In an emergency you step out of your comfort zone and make decisions that may not be very comfortable or pleasant. And lets be clear there is nothing easy, comfortable or pleasant about the climate and environmental emergency.
Have you read?
Young people are being let down by older generations and those in power. To some it may seem like we are asking for a lot. But this is just the very minimum of effort needed to start the rapid sustainable transition. The fact that this still in 2020 hasnt been done already is, quite frankly, a disgrace.
Yet, since the 2015 Paris agreement, 33 major global banks have collectively poured $1.9tn (£1.5tn) into fossil fuels, according to Rainforest Actions report. The IMF concluded that in 2017 alone, the world spent $5.2tn subsidising fossil fuels. This has to stop ...

Does she write her own agitprop, or does someone do it for her?
My guess is the latter.
The youngster doesn’t know her expiration date has come and gone....
Back in saner times, adults ran our affairs guided by sensible guidelines such as, Children should be seen, not heard.
Very stupid. There is this huge mass of petroleum under the ground. It’s free for the taking, plus costs of exploration, retrieval, transportation and refining. The economy of the industrialized world is based on it. Sun, ocean waves, and wind won’t supply enough power for our needs!
The conclusion is that they want to destroy our industrialized world and set us back in the Middle Ages.
yell away Greta. You won’t get anywhere.
I agree build more nuclear reactors. Is she proposing to outlaw petroleum? No medicines, no plastics, no lubricants, a lot of things made from petroleum.
What would happen if we were to do all this that some say is necessary to combat climate change & then we find we are worse off than before? Will those who insisted on all these changes make good for the problem when they find out the “cure” hasn’t helped? I think not. I think these folks need to be told now to just shut up, sit down, & pound sand.
She is a teen actress, of course she reads the scripts written by other people. That’s what they do.
Those that want to abandon the so called fossil fuel do not live in the real world. They live in some fantasy world where reality can never exist. Ask these questions next time someone mentions getting rid of fossil fuels. Can alternative energies produce what it takes to make alternative energy? Can it power the mining equipment, the ore smelting, the transportation of raw and finished materials, manufacturing, etc? Until alternative energies can be used to produce itself, existing energies are needed. Then comes the material made from oil. That is a whole new discussion.
Of course she wrote this, she is how old again? Yeah, okie dokie.....
There is giant fraud in what the sheeple like Greta say, a fraud they have been taught to promote, even though it is counter to the scientific opinion that says human made CO2 is the problem.
That scientific opinion and its models rely on an attribute assigned by the models to CO2, the attribute of how long the models say CO2 remains in the atmosphere once it is put there.
Without the value they assign to that attribute the theory falls apart. So to accept the theory requires accepting what the models say about the “atmospheric shelf life” of CO2 in the atmosphere. The time frame assigned by the models to that CO2 shelf life is very long, extremely long in fact.
It is so long, that if you were to speak in accordance with the models own science, you’d know that telling people to change how they are now producing CO2 will change little now about “climate” or weather. Why? Massive adjustments in production of CO2 will not even start to reduce the growth of atmospheric CO2 for anywhere from 100 to 2000 years or more from now, because of how long CO2 already in the atmosphere will remain there together with CO2 added by natural causes.
But Greta’s assignment is not to tell that truth.
For if the models are wrong, then those behind Greta know they have her asking people to embark on a fools errand.
If the man-made global warming theorists are correct, then the best use of human capital, science and engineering for the best investment for the future is in developing methods and means to adapt to and mitigate the effects of “climate change”. It will cost far less than chasing CO2 and provide what society really needs if the climate modelers theories are correct, while harming us little if they are wrong.
BTW, Greta, the New Decade actually starts on January 1, 2021.
Go back to school.
These people need to be put up against a wall somewhere.
Yep, a 16-year-old wrote that part.
Greta Thunberg = Climate Change Conspirer
Says the jagoffs who burned more fuel just getting to Davos that an average mid-sized American town of 30,000 people or so does in an entire year . . .
She didn’t write 10 words of this moronic crap, even though she’s a budding moron.
