If I had to guess, they didn’t have a plan in place...so no one thought to. We didn’t do any better as it was only AFTER that plane went down that we told our aircraft to scatter. That should have been done 12 hours earlier.

Girkin bragged and took credit for the shoot down of MH17 when the Russians thought it was a Ukrainian plane. It wasn’t until hours later that everyone realized it was an airliner that the Russians had shot down.
