World War III with Iran in retaliation for the killing of terror mastermind Qasem Soleimani failed to materialize. Instead, Iran fired about a dozen missiles at airfields hosting U.S. forces in Sunni and Kurdish areas of Iraq and despite deadly intent, failed to cause casualties. Content with that bootless result, the ayatollahs offered to end the cycle of retaliation, at least for now, citing their generous and forgiving nature.
The abrupt de-escalation of military conflict caused by the actual impracticability of open war left inflamed political passions with nowhere to go. So they burst their channels in various ways. The reaction to Soleimani's death has proved more destructive than the original strike itself. It has already caused one mass-casualty funeral stampede born of crowds eager to prove how beloved the late IRGC chief was; an Iranian missile volley that fortunately missed the town of Hit fired by the ayatollahs for face-saving reasons; and one accidental shootdown of a Ukrainian jetliner killing nearly 200 passengers in vigilance of an American strike that never came. It also precipitated a nonbinding Congressional resolution "asserting that President Donald Trump must seek approval from Congress before engaging in further military action against Iran."

Trump is a reductionist.
He and his advisors know which domino to tip over
The media is so swirled up in their heads its laughable
As usual the media is reckless. Trump smacked the Iranian regime, but then extended the olive branch.
This Soleimani character was violating all the rules of war. I don’t know if he was wearing his uniform at the time he got vaporized or not, but either way it was a good kill. If he was in uniform, then he was an enemy combatant in occupied territory. He is responsible for the deaths of hundreds and the injury of thousands. If he wasn’t in uniform, then imo he violated the Geneva Convention. He wasn’t in Iraq on a humanitarian or diplomatic mission. He was responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands across the entire region. There is no defending him at all. His death is well deserved.
Those idiots who are acting like the defense attorneys for Iranian backed terror are deranged. Trump did the right thing. He knocked off a guy who deserved to be knocked off, avoided a wider war, prevented a lot of deaths across the entire region, and then he extended his hand and offered the Iranians a diplomatic solution. This is perhaps the best use of American military superiority ever.
WWIII began with Operation Masterdom
in Vietnam
on September 13, 1945
The people who claimed it was bigger than bin Laden weren't wrong. The commander of Quds was an evil genius whose touch killed thousands if not tens of thousands, many of them his own countrymen and women. We caught him making war on U.S. people in a war zone, and it was an absolutely legitimate attack. I am personally disgusted if hardly surprised at the immediate sympathy for the deceased on the part of Democrats who would kiss the devil's arse if it meant smearing Trump.
So far the country - its leadership and people - have killed 122 of their own citizens (and a bunch of other citizens, non US - which is 'who they are mad at') while 'acting out' as the psychologists would call it.
Take a step back, breathe, and fire your dang leadership.
While we're at it - the same pattern is playing out less dramatically but with more deaths frankly, in every blue city in America.
Some groups and cultures (I add the Russians to this list and there are many others) are historically very bad selecting or tolerating (ultimately the same thing) leadership.
Well said
I'd put it a month earlier, the day we nuked Hiroshima.
It ended 25 December 1991.
The undoing the generations of morass in the large metropolitan cities in the United States of America is going to take a great deal of time and effort
and good economic conditions to make people realize that sitting around in expected government to take care of you theres no life at all. Its DEATH
JUST AS MUCH AS HEROIN
Actually the Iranian response makes perfect sense in their internal context. The Shiites annually celebrate the death dividing them from the Sunnis with Asura by flagellating themselves. So this time they celebrated the death of the IED leader by blowing themselves up.
