House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced Friday that she will take steps next week to send impeachment articles to the Senate, after delaying the process since last month in a bid to extract favorable terms for a trial.
“I have asked Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler to be prepared to bring to the Floor next week a resolution to appoint managers and transmit articles of impeachment to the Senate. I will be consulting with you at our Tuesday House Democratic Caucus meeting on how we proceed further,” Pelosi, D-Calif., wrote in a letter to colleagues.
The decision to release the articles came as fellow Democrats in recent days had started to voice frustration and impatience with the speaker's approach. They stressed the urgency with which impeachment was treated at the end of 2019 and questioned why the House would then delay a trial by using articles as leverage.
Asked about Pelosi's decision to move forward on Friday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said: “About time.”
Pelosi nevertheless defended her approach in the memo, stressing important new information on the Ukraine controversy at the heart of impeachment that emerged during the interim.
“I am very proud of the courage and patriotism exhibited by our House Democratic Caucus as we support and defend the Constitution,” she wrote. She continued to press the Senate, as she has for weeks, to conduct a "fair trial" with witnesses and documents.
“In an impeachment trial, every Senator takes an oath to ‘do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws.’ Every Senator now faces a choice: to be loyal to the President or to the Constitution,” she wrote. “No one is above the law, not even the President.”

You should find the youtube video of the Bill Hemmer show today on Fox News. They had on Miranda Devine, a columnist for the Washington Post, whom I had never seen before. She roasted Pelosi. I was speechless at her accuracy and blunt takedown of Pelosi and the games she has played.

I think even the panel was taken aback at how she crushed San Fran Nan - it was brilliant and kudos to her. I am so sick of the left wing media narrative about how brilliant and awesome that she is.
She dug herself into a hole and refused to quit digging to placate her left wing who do not give a crap anyways. They will continue dragging her party to the left - she could have kept her foot down instead of caving, but her strategy, execution, and flipflopping shocked me.
Her refusal to take the call from Pence while she attended a cocktail party undermined her arguments.

Pelosi didn’t say Articles _would_ be transmitted.
Given the growing number of Democrats expressing voter regret, she might not get enough votes to send it (assuming a resolution is needed to send Articles to the Senate).
So her excuse for waiting, in part, seems to be related to looking for new information between the house vote and when she transmitted to the Senate. Last I checked, it was the houses responsibility to investigate and gather facts then vote based on the fact you gathered then you transmit it to the Senate for trial. Not vote on it wait a while to get some more fact that you think makes your case stronger and transmit whenever you feel like. This just shows that her original vote had had nothing Of substance

No. But the House needs to pass a separate resolution naming the managers and funding them.
Something to consider: The senators all know Trump knows where all their skeletons are buried. They also know Trump will release it all if things go sideways. This will keep many senators' votes in line. Book it.
They should, especially since one of the articles deals with PDJT supposedly trying to take out a rival. But you know how the RATs project. And strangely enough, since Schitt introduced the charge, they would be Impeachable using their precedent.
I’m sure you realize that if the shoe was on the other foot (a Democratic President impeachment trial) the Libs would be screaming for the five Republican Senators to recuse themselves..
