WASHINGTON - Marianne Williamson, the self-help guru who warned of the “dark psychic force” unleashed by Republican President Donald Trump, suspended her quixotic outsider campaign for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination on Friday.
Williamson won admirers if not voters with a spirituality-focused campaign that promoted a politics of love and of conscience. She advocated a Department of Peace and embraced an economic justice agenda to repair damage done by so-called trickle-down economics.
“I stayed in the race to take advantage of every possible effort to share our message. With caucuses and primaries now about to begin, however, we will not be able to garner enough votes in the election to elevate our conversation any more than it is now,” Williamson said in a statement.
The Texas native produced a viral moment during a July debate when she warned of Trump’s “dark psychic force” after Democrats debated their various policy positions.
“If you think any of this wonkiness is going to deal with this dark psychic force of the collectivized hatred that this president is bringing up in this country, then I’m afraid that the Democrats are going to see some very dark days,” she said.

The Dems won’t let her do this.
She can’t just walk away and go back to ...whatever she does.

She and Tulsi were the only reason to watch their debates.
Tulsi is pretty and calm. Marianne was like the crazy girl in college who was into fluid morals—and if you caught her on the right night it was fun. You just needed to stay in the dorm and library for two weeks...until she glommed onto one of your friends.
Now it’s like spending the afternoon in the rec room on the locked floor at the nursing home
Well she’s still the hottest of them all.
I think they have to say “suspend” so they can legally continue to collect donations to pay any debt incurred during the campaign. I read that on FR a few years ago.

I had a friend who got me to go to his church. I had no idea... Anyway, every thing in the Bible was ascribed to that kind of mumbo jumbo — the flood was Noah’s emotional trauma, etc.
Except at the end of her sermon, tithing meant what? A literal ten per cent of your income, no less.
If we had a Department of Peace, it would be the most strident and militant agency we’ve ever known!

The sad part of Williamson dropping out of the race is that she was one of the more sane candidates out there. A little wacky with the crystal thing, but I can’t recall her promising that Big Daddy government would do everything for you from cradle to grave.
Oh, well, at least the total craziness in the Democrat party, aka Occasionally Coherent, isn’t eligible until the 2024 election.
Apropos of nothing, I love that two-episode arc in Two and a Half Men with Susan Blakely.
Does that mean she stops running or just floats in the air with her eyes closed?
There’s actually an online rule that describes that phenomenon:

Bristol Palin also triggers that particular rule in her own, particular way.
Trickle down economics is so bad we are richer than ever!
Well, I have to admit I kinda liked to see her running for office. She represented a bit saner aspect of the left wing. Maybe one might not agree with any of the mumbo-jumbo, but she wasn’t calling for burning it all down and shuttling off Trump supporters into cattle cars...Love...We all need a little love. Maybe if she ran instead of Carter, she might have had a chance...a sort of second McGovern.
And whatever one says about McGovern...at least he served in WW2. Pilot IIRC, but I could be wrong. There was a time when the two opposing parties served their country equally. It was country first and party second. (Maybe..)
