London (CNN) The House of Commons has voted overwhelmingly in favor of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Brexit deal, finally paving the way for the United Kingdom to leave the European Union later this month after more than four decades of membership.
The deal has cleared its biggest hurdle with the vote that followed a third reading in Parliament, in which 330 voted for and 231 against, putting an end to three years of political wrangling following the 2016 Brexit referendum.
Thursday was the last opportunity for MPs to reject the bill before it is sent to the House of Lords, after which it will be put into legislation in coming weeks. The deal had been shot down by a fractured House of Commons several times over the past year, sending Westminster into a tailspin over whether Brexit would happen at all.
But Thursday's vote in parliament stood in stark contrast to the upheaval that dominated British politics last year, which included the resignation of former Prime Minister Theresa May.

They’ve delayed and dithered for years, but CNN says they “rubber stamped” it.
Spin, spin, spin. All spin, all the time.
They only tell a story if they can spin it. Every story is an opportunity for spinning their political agenda.
Brexit Day is January 31 at 11:00 am GMT.
England finally gets Brexit done, only to have the news overshadowed by the Duke & Duchess of Sussex.
Those two are leaving full time Royal duties, like yesterday.
The Brits are in a whirl, all their traditions having been thrown into a cuisinart blender by The American actress.
This generations’ Yoko Ono.
No wonder we kicked their ass in 1776.
Crap or get off the pot already.
Winning! Now...if only we could do this kind of winning in the state of Virginia.
JoMa
Right.
The UK PEOPLE won thanks to the due diligence of Boris Johnson....Britain’s rendition of President Trump.
Deal still needs to be ratified by the European Parliament but thats expected to be a formality now that the UK Parliament has given its assent:
Any idea what happens if they don’t ratify it? Haven’t heard that scenario outlined.
“later this month”
That leaves just France and Germany as the bill payers, for all the subsidies to the South - and they are facing their own economic headwinds.
The UK would still leave but it would be a no deal Brexit, which no one wants.
Unfortunately it is not much of a Brexit.
Good, it is way past time that the will of the British people be obeyed by their representatives.
Now it is OUR turn! The only way the Brits did it was to reinforce their earlier election of a pro-Brexit leader with an overwhelming 2nd election to toss out all of the foot-dragging one-worlders. Well, folks, that’s EXACTLY what we need to do in November - show up at the polls in MASSIVE numbers.
In politics, you take what you can get.
Now that the UK has a Supreme Court, they will somehow find an obscure law to use and block Brexit from going forward...
“Theyve delayed and dithered for years, but CNN says they rubber stamped it.”
“rubber stamped” only in the sense that Parliament “rubber stamped” the will of the voters who overwhelming expressed their desire during the recent election for Parliament to waste no more time in Brexiting ...
Rubber stamps? The Conservative Party just won the largest majority they’ve had since the 1930s.The British voters spokeand they spoke clearly.
And all the scare tactics we read about, particularly from one globalist commie Freeper, will amount to nothing.
One step closer.
