The point Kerry is making is that we froze Iranian assets in 1979.
Those assets continued to accrue interest or grow in value as the years went by.
A court ordered us to give the frozen assets back at their current value.
We gave Iran back their own money. Not taxpayer money.
Now, I think we can all agree that Iran did not distribute any of that money back to their original owners and that the portion given in cash disappeared pretty quickly.
I am not defending Kerry or saying that any of this was good idea. I am merely clarifying that the US did not pay taxpayer money to Iran for any of this—other than the cost of delivering the cash to them on pallets.
It is important to use facts and not get emotional. The Liberals use emotion and not facts.

“Made available the funds”
That is a direct statement of fact. There was no rational reason to unfreeze the Iranian assets knowing full well Iran, the leading State Sponsor of Terrorism, was going to use those fund attack on our personal and our allies.
That the Obamabots are desperately trying to obfuscate facts with the utterly irreverent twaddle and made up lie that a issue under continuing litigation was “forced on them by a court” is the despicable lie here.
My talker DJ this morning said the 150 Mil $ was the Shaw’s govt. money (pre 1979) and never belonged to the revolutionary Ayitola’s later govt. Obo turning over that money allowed that later belligerent govt . to have lots of funding for whatever uses..... (excuse spelling please).
