“Judges Andrew Oldham and Edith Jones, appointees of Mr. Trump and former President Ronald Reagan, respectively, agreed to grant the administration’s request. Judge Stephen Higginson, who was appointed by former President Obama, dissented.”

PLEASE NOTE: If our RINOs were voting like Democrats, which some people claim here, Judge Oldham would not be on that court, and it’s very possible that Trump would have lost this ruling.

I have no great love for RINOs, but they are FAR BETTER than Democrats on judges (and just now, standing with Trump and the conservatives on impeachment), and if they are on the November ballot in your state (mainly for Senate), you should really consider the ALTERNATIVE (a Democrat) before trying to ‘send a message’ by not voting - as Democrats simply VOTE AGAINST TRUMP’S JUDGES, almost always, and to a person.

You are correct. They can't bring themselves to use the word "wall."

No matter how much it hurts sometimes you just have to give it up for Mitch.

I'm surprised they didn't say, "easily climbed hateful racist 'walls' proven to be useless and dangerous for women and children who climb them."

Can he use $1 million of that to string concertina wire along the top? Remember the wetbacks who made it to the top? They’re even carrying ladders for the job.

“No matter how much it hurts sometimes you just have to give it up for Mitch.”

I’m sure most people here either don’t know or don’t remember, but one of the things that made life a bitch for Republican presidents was trying to judges confirmed. Much of the time, they had to deal with a Democrat Senate (at least half of the time, starting with Reagan and ending with Bush Jr.) and the Democrats simply let many judgeships lapse rather than confirming conservative nominees. For Reagan and Bush Jr., that was the last two years of their terms - very little movement on judges. For Bush Sr., that was his entire term. Then, in 2 of these 3 cases, a Democrat president would follow, and guess what - the slots got filled. 90% of the country had no clue as to what was going on, as it wasn’t sexy and the media had no reason to report it.

Then you also had the stupid blue-slip rule and the filibuster, all held over from a time when Senators actually talked to each other and more or less, would not openly oppose on ideology (Bork was more an exception than a rule), so there was some very slow movement on judges for conservatives.

Today’s Democrats in the Senate simply will NEVER allow any judge they wouldn’t have picked to move. To them holding hostage the judiciary is fair game, since those are the old rules. McConnell had done GREAT, and he’s had to deal with small or tiny majorities, often due to conservatives being happier with a Democrat Senator than a RINO...but now that he has a bit of breathing room (53 seats), and he’s packing the judges into our courts, as we see here.

The bottom line is that if the Dems win the Senate in 2020 and Trump wins the White House, then any judges being confirmed will have been picked by the DEMOCRATS, or might as well have been. For people that care about the future of the country, consider that consequences as you try to ‘teach the RINOs a lesson’ by not voting for them in November. You’re not hurting them...they’ll do fine with or without their Senate seat, you’re only hurting your own family, especially your kids.

Why all out voting in 2020 is imperative for conservatives of all stripes!!

The crazy libs, knew instantly with a Trump win in 2016 that their Progressive agenda would grind to a halt with activist Judges outnumbered by the conservative Trump appointments that they knew would come. Why they were pissed from day one.

Sidestepping the will of the people through activist Judges is all they’ve got. And that’s being eroded on a daily basis.

TRUMP 2020 ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

To recap this decision:

A Rapin Bill "judge", partisan Democrat Resistance "judge" David Briones, attempted to stop The Wall with a hyperpartisan "decision" on December 10, 2019.

He just got smacked down less than a month later by Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals judges Edith Jones (a Reagan judge) and Andy Oldham (a Trump judge) - even though a partisan Democrat ClownBammy "judge", Stephen Higginson, tried to stop them.

You also have to thank Harry Reid for changing Senate rules to allow judicial confirmations by a mere majority, as opposed to a sixty vote super majority, as had been the practice for generations.

Thank you for your comment and I think I understand the gist of it. We should accept the necessity of voting for Rino’s because they help confirm the judges. Right?

This is simply a restatement of the lesser-of-two-evils doctrine. You do not realize that your arguments are not persuasive. I suspect from your supercilious tone that you do not intend to persuade, but I am unable to guess your true motivation.

Of course you consider yourself capable of knowing my motivation. You seem to know that I want to “teach someone a lesson.” No I do not think that the Republican Party is capable of learning any lessons. Perhaps you are. That remains to be seen.

You also seem to know that I am “happier with a Democrat.” You betray an almost total ignorance of my views on the matter. You say that I want to “hurt” the Rinos, but I am only “hurting” my own family. This is truly absurd, but I only say that because I disagree with you and I only disagree with you because I do not really "care about the future of the country." Right?

You forgot to accuse me of wanting to maintain my conservative “purity.” Perhaps you can rectify that. In the meantime, I hope that you and others on the forum can learn that the number of never Rinos is already at a level to affect outcomes in Virginia and North Carolina which I know personally, and I assume in other states as well. You will understand that an insulting demeanor and straw man arguments will not turn the tide.

I do not insult you and I believe you to be a patriot, even if you do not afford me the same courtesy.

Wow. Way to take things personally.

BobL was IMO just taking the opportunity to remind all who may read the thread that every judge matters and that RINO usually vote with the Republicans on judges. BobL even included context that I was unaware of.

I thought that Garland and Zero’s last year were the first time that opposing President’s nominees were systematically blocked. The MSM would certainly have you believe that was the case and the Left acts like Mitch is the Devil because he held back bringing Leftist judges to the floor vote.

Imagine the light bulb effect of finding that”Reagan and Bush Jr...the last two years of their terms - very little movement on judges. For Bush Sr., that was his entire term.” With the second punch being that those slots were filled by the Democrat Presidents that followed them. The Left is even more hypocritical than I had realized and even more addicted to accusing others of what they had in fact done and done first.

Many freepers have espoused the premise that they are fed up with RINO and want to a. Not Vote, B Vote for a Democrat or 3rd party candidate, to teach the Republican party a lesson.

Viscerally I understand completely. Intellectually I realize those actions rebound back on America making it that much harder to get back to an even economic keel and a society that hews to the Constitution. That was BobL’s point as I understand it.

On FR we comment partially to the OP but also to the larger audience to express our thoughts on the issues raised by the OP. It is contra productive to think of a response as being an indictment or aimed personally when it is more often an attempt to express deeply held beliefs and respond to a commonly posted alternate view raised once again by a post.
