Trump says Bolton ‘knows nothing,’ up to Senate if he testifies in impeachment trial

Former National Security Adviser John Bolton likely wouldn’t be helpful as a Senate impeachment witness because he “know[s] nothing” on the matter, President Trump said this week.

“[Bolton] would know nothing about what we’re talking about,” President Trump said Tuesday when asked if he would be comfortable with his former national security adviser testifying on events relating to the Ukraine probe.

“As you know, the Ukrainian government came out with a very strong statement, no pressure, no anything, and this from the boss,” Trump went on to say, adding, “That’s from the president of Ukraine. The foreign minister came out with a statement that was equally as strong.”

I really used to like Bolton. I have lost a lot of respect for him. Can’t shut his trap.

To the dems, it isn’t about what he knows. It is all about what he feels. They want to hear it, as long as his feelings are negative about Trump.

Vetted by President Trump’s attorneys, he should ask that any questions just these doubtful Republican senators have for Bolton be submitted in writing to him, and that his answers will be given back to them in writing.

Likely, they would refuse, their intent not being to get answers, just to embarrass President Trump. So he also needs to use a stick, that if this is their intent, they should expect no further support from the Republican party, and instead expect active opposition.

I bet Bolton was walking around with a wrench in his pocket last night when it looked like we might be getting into a shooting war with the mullahs.

I am having a difficult time understanding how these idiots can get away with continuously telling lies. I read the transcript of the call. Perhaps my understanding of the English language is lacking but I do not recall reading what this moron said was in the transcript. After all I am only a 63 year old American citizen with a masters degree in electrical engineering and a masters degree in political science (National Security Policy) and 40 years work experience in the national security area. I suppose the issue is that I am unable to read minds like our progressive citizens.

What can Bolton say that would undermine Trump? If he goes rogue then I will criticize him. During his tenure nothing happened as far as war was concerned. This killing of Salami happened afterwards and could blow up the Middle East. I’m keeping my powder dry on Bolton.

One thing that makes it more difficult to sort out (at least for me) is that there is more than one reason to be hawkish.

All hawks are not neocon globalists - some are genuine patriots who believe national security depends on carrying a big stick and being willing to use it.

Obviously, when wars drag on for decades, it is clear that the wrong kind of hawk was in control of the agenda - but that is a retrospective clarity.

Other than retroactively, how do you tell the difference between patriotic hawks and the globalist kind?
