By TZVI JOFFRE JANUARY 8, 2020 01:21

Initial reports stated that 9 rockets hit the Ain al-Assad airbase on Tuesday. The base hosts American soldiers.

Heavy missile attacks were carried out by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps on the Ain al-Assad air base in Iraq that hosts both Iraqi and US soldiers on Tuesday night. Nine missiles hit the airbase, according to Al-Hadath.

Will Trump have to ask Pelosi if he can retaliate in kind?

Why not all 3? Their cruise missiles were plenty accurate, though.

How can they squeeze high bypass engines under the low wings? Maybe adopt MCAS?

I thought that was dates? Or is that Iraq. I can’t keep the source of my Christmas basket foods straight.

Saw that after I posted. I still think it looks like a “saving face” move. The statement from the Iranian government sure doesn’t sound like they want any escalation.

But they did need to show their people that they did “something”. Hence the ‘grand gesture’ of blowing 15 holes in the Iraqi desert.

Unlike the US who issued restrictions (below). There are likely Iranians and others wanting to high-tail it out of Iraq.

FAA Statement:...Jan 7, 2020

NOTAMs issued outlining flight restrictions that prohibit U.S. civil aviation operators from operating in the airspace over Iraq, Iran, and the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

I’ve had conversations with three Iranians I’ve met. All three told me that most of them HATE the mullahs and would love to see us take them down. I’m sure that the admin knows this... and will make strategic strikes to take out the leadership, smuggle in weapons for rebels and destroy their nuclear facilities. Their regime is weak. Now is the time to take them out. While normally I am an isolationist... America first kind of guy ... the Mullahs have it coming. Their time is over.

Any magnum jr’s in the fight? I’m all about getting some. If a single American would have spilled blood in tonight’s attack, I’d be all in. It didn’t happen, and they made the tactical decision to avoid lobbing missiles at the base that sets on their border, with the highest concentration of US Pers. Nonsensical! I did my time in Anbar, and the last deployment to Afghanistan, I was deployed with my oldest son. The president has been moving forces out of the area and Iraq before we had to shwack the General. Like you, as far as I’m concerned, they still owe for 1979 and thus they will continue to pay via withering sanctions. We aren’t going to fix the Iran problem, regional powers need to do that.

I’m responding to, you don’t know for sure and neither do I.

You’re thug with the gun analogy is likely not applicable here. If Iran missed on purpose, then rest assured that they would have communicated their intent to Trump ahead of time and gotten some confirmation ahead of time that our response would be limited and perportional. To do otherwise would defeat the purpose. To miss on purpose but not tell us ahead of time would make no sense. They would end up executing an ineffective strike on us and still receive a harsh response.

No, if the Iranians missed on purpose, it would have been nothing like the thug with a gun example you give. The Iranians would have reached out to us ahead of time through backchannels, and it would have been carefully orchestrated between both sides to avoid mistakes and achieved the mutually desired outcome.

You assume way to much for being faced with a lethal threat. If you think anyone working for trump would have accepted an Iranian deal to launch missiles even in our general direction, you are trying way too hard to bend facts to fit your desired outcome. It’s actually a ridiculous thesis that the Dems would use to take him down: coordinating a fake attack with the enemy? Are you sure you want to defend that theory?

Don’t mistake me. I don’t desire a costly war. But to not respond to this is to signal weakness and INVITE more attacks, not just from Iran, but any other adversary we have, China, NK, whoever doesn’t like the US these days. In addition, trump drew the line. He won’t be like Obama and just redraw it time after time. The Iranians have forced a response. It’s on them.

Trump loses all credibility if he doesn’t respond... even if Iran intentionally missed.
