Thanks for the response. It's appreciated.
Pretty much all of what the government does is waste and meddle. At least in this case there is a chance that the theater will turn voters away from the DEMs. Might even illuminate the non-violent sedition that Congress has been perpetrating.
“The vote to start the trial would be held after the House sends over the articles of impeachment. ”
What does this mean?
Senate doesnt do investigations. Thats the job of the House.
Democrats can present their case and let the Senate decide whether it warrants the Presidents removal from office.
As things stand, hell be acquitted.
Since theyre not sure about their case and they appear to be having buyers remorse, why did the Democrats impeach Trump?
This is all on them and its not the GOPs job to prosecute the President for them.
They have to adopt trial rules first. McC says they will use Clinton rules.
Whenever. With the rules in place, Nancys leverage is gone.
Time to cut bait or to swim.
I still think the Senate’s response to any questions of impeachment is “what impeachment? the House has not delivered any Articles of Impeachment; nothing to discuss.” Once received, McConnell moves to begin trial _next_day_ (like 12:01 AM), with immediate dismissal if House Managers are not physically present.
It sounds like it says, this is the way we’re going to run the trial. Once you send the articles, we’ll have a trial.
If she doesn’t send the articles, I guess, no trial?
The House has yet to name its managers and appropriate funds for the trial.
They should have passed the resolution concurrently with the articles of impeachment.
Nancy will probably move to do it once the Senate adopts its rules. Theres no real point in stalling indefinitely.
If the Democrats dont show up for the trial, the Senate will certainly move to dismiss with prejudice and vote a directed acquittal of the President.
Now its up to the House. It can go forward or it can drop it.
“...but Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski didnt take the bait...
Watch for the Dem pressure on these two when the Senate does vote on witnesses. The vote now is just kicking the can down the road. “

Reminds me of jeff flake (perfect name)) being taken into a adjoining room during the Kavanaugh inquisition and caving!
I have no problem with stalling indefinitely. The Senate sees no stall, no impeachment even, until House delivers the Articles. Let the issue die, zero negotiation, zero recognition until House decides to play by established rules.
Yep. Roll call vote too. Roll Call Vote 106th Congress - 1st Session: Vote Number: 1
Question: On the Resolution (S.Res.16 )
I love Democrats complaining their double standards wont be accommodated. They need to STFU!
ok.
Pierre Delectos comfortable with the Clinton approach. Snort
Sorry for being skeptical, but my trust for anything or anybody in D.C. has long gone... I just don’t trust anybody not even our own side to do anything good for the president. My question is, is this a good thing? I just am a tad confused and infuriated that Americans have been dragged through hell and back for these 3+years by these evil swamp monsters and our evil enemy of America representatives at the hill! Hope all is good for our president..praying for his success against his enemies!!
100-0
From the perspective of a sense of order, this is probably good.
The first thing on McConnell’s list is to get everybody on record with the rules used against the ‘bent one’ twenty years ago. Anyone who voted for those rules for Slick Willy who votes against them now will be called out for the hypocrisy.
After that, it depends on if Nancy forwards the articles or not. If not, there is a motion ready to dismiss the impeachment for lack of prosecution by the house managers (no show, no case). If Nancy does finally send them over, the GOP controls the votes to decide if they call witnesses or not, and whether or not to vote to dismiss based on the house’s presented case.
McConnell holds all the cards.
