The strategy has changed.
I don’t anticipate a single US boot on Iranian soil. In fact, if Iran doesn’t make good on their threats, there likely won’t be any shooting at all.
But if they do, hell will rain down upon them.

People in our military forces need something to do in order to avoid extensive personnel cuts and unemployment. Hardship tours for combat personnel should be limited to six months, though, in my opinion. Give them more breaks with leaves long and enjoyable enough to keep them connected to the world at home.

The idea is you do this so you AREN’T there for “another 40 years.” The option is likely “another 40 years.”
But I have absolutely NO problem with stationing troops overseas if a) the host country pays; b) there is no fighting; and c) the guys get to see some nice sights.
