Yeah those were the days and I miss them. My father always swore that milk tasted better in glass jars than the cardboard.
But who will make sure that Elsie the Cow is milked and fed every day? And what about her husband Elmer making his famous glue?
I love an icy cold glass of milk. I really hate to see this.
20 years ago I received a flu shot. After that I developed allergies to multiple foods. Including dairy and wheat.
Alta Dena Dairy was sold to Dean Foods in 1999.
I’ve been hearing the progressives (NPR) talking of “oat milk.”
I hope they survive.
I always buy Borden American cheese because it is cheaper than Kraft and tastes just as good.
whole milk or nothing.
Elsie the BORDEN Cow
Elsie the Cow is a cartoon cow developed as a mascot for the Borden Dairy Company in 1936 to symbolize the “perfect dairy product”. Since the demise of Borden in the mid-1990s the character has continued to be used in the same capacity for the company’s partial successor, Eagle Brand, owned by The J.M. Smucker Company.
Because kids dont drink milk anymore, the next generation of Americans will supposedly be SHORTER.
Hint: There is really no such thing as dairy cattle. All cattle are on temporary loan from the beef industry.
Nasty bunch of folks. Hope they all lose their jobs.
They would buy up smaller regional brands, lay off the small town employees, and then slap the trusted label on their own products. Short term profits on the backs of low income employees who had no other options.
Not so much. It seems to be a seesaw between “animal slavery” and “lactose intolerance” balanced on a fulcrum of bullshit.
Your father is correct. Imagine the difference between drinking beer from a glass bottle versus from a cardboard box. It's like that. We have an abundance of foodstuffs now; but it just doesn't seem as good to eat or drink and there are too many artificial ingredients, including non-sugar substitutes and chemical preservatives that I think are doing a bad number on our guts.
U.S. taxpayers subsidize the dairy industry to the tune of $400 million per year.
At one time Bordens made the best chocolate milk you could get.
No competitor came close.
Irish cream guy here.
Wow... I grew up in the 1940s and Borden delivered milk to all of the houses in my neighborhood. Oak Farms had different areas where they delivered.
They delivered whole milk, buttermilk, cream and an orange drink.
