my son was a marine security guard in Amman he visited it twice. My wife and i went to Israel. I wanted to take her to petra on my son’s recommendation. She wouldn’t go to an arab country. So we missed Bethlehem even thought you go with an Arab tour guide.

“”my son was a marine security guard in Amman he visited it twice””

My son in law was in the Marines and on 6 month (?) float with USMC Expeditionary Forces and he brought back some reading material/pictures from Petra that I devoured. I found it fascinating. They were still there when Clinton ordered some cruise missiles at (?) Their time to come home was extended because of what was going on then - 1996, I believe! I can’t find anything relative to that year but I’m sure it’s the right one.

I would advise everyone who hasn’t done any traveling to do so - my husband and I have always been so conservative that we didn’t spend any money on “going and seeing” that we should have. You never realize it until it’s too late. A FReeper recently asked what’s stopping us now....my husband’s health! All I can do now is tell other people WHAT they should do!!

I envy that you went to Israel. That would be the best trip of all.

yeah Israel was great. Jerusalem, Caphernum, Nazareth, Masada, needed more time. You can rent an apartment for 1 week for the cost of 1 night at the King David Hotel.

I live vicariously through relatives telling me about their trips to Israel - pictures of them up on Masada, baptismal spot of Christ in the Jordan River (on Jordan side, right?); I guess that’s a popular spot for tourists as I’ve seen other people mention it also; mud baths in the Dead Sea..

I saw Pete Hegseth on FOX with some very good reports on the Holy Land - probably the week of Christmas. Very enjoyable.

He asked for permission from a guide to pray at the site of the birth of Jesus (down some steps into sort of a cave) and that surprised me. I’ve always read that “the manger” was out in the desolate part of the country and where travelers stopped overnight enroute to probably Bethlehem..couldn’t make the connection to the Biblical “no room at the inn” as it wouldn’t seem there would have been any accommodations anywhere nearby except stables. Still interesting!

some sites are not nailed down and there are options like the tomb where christ was taken after the cruxifiction. Honest tour guides will tell you the truth I lied the synagogue in Capharnum (meeting g hall) a lot of stone seats and walls still there where Christ preached to the locals when he stayed with peter.

We wanted to go to the foe of the rock mosque. We followed the arab crowd into the Damascus gate of the old city and then turned down a narrow street. Before the entrance to the courtyard was a table across 2/3rds if the small street Israeli soldiers. Only muslims today, he said. I aSKED HOW DO YOU KNOW WE ARE NOT MUSLIM. HE lookEd right through me and asked, well are you a muslim, I have a few questions. We left Tried to go on wed and closed to everyone. Tough place to get into.

The Iranian savages are DELIBERATELY locating their missiles, bombs etc at “cultural sites”. They WANT the collateral damage.

These same evil @ssholes put women and children in the lines of fire for the same reasons. They’re savages and cowards, pure evil.

They don’t give a d@mn about “cultural sites,” women, children, whatever.....

President Trump clearly understands what President Truman understood during WW II. If you want to defeat your enemy, you have to physically and morally defeat them.

Turn Tehran to glass by morning, Mr. President.
