Author is very thorough in his discussion. He ends before getting into specific solutions.

It is divided. Never say, “You stupid little sh*t to a dwarf wheeling a knife.” They are the democrats and we should act somewhat politely.

What he doesn’t mention is about 90% of the population doesn’t really care that much.

More divided than it was in 1861? I think not.

All of a sudden, The Atlantic is real concerned about something the Founding Fathers were thinking.

He ends before getting into specific solutions.

After observing the progs for the past 30 years it is unlikely that there is more than one solution.

Diversity is division. It’s right there in the word. It’s going to get a lot worse.

So the Atlantic is concerned about this...now.

Only after they see the rebellion organizing and growing in VA and people offering to travel there and assist from the other 49.

The Atlantic has done its part to Jacobinize the Left/Dems in the USA and create any coming CW2.

Huh?

The Founders also would have known that plurality elections (whoever gets the most votes wins) tend to generate just two parties, while proportional elections (vote shares in multi-winner districts translate into seat shares) tend to generate multiple parties, with the district size and threshold percentages shaping the number.

So called "proportional voting" is a thinly disguised form of mob rule, under which, among other things, the Electoral College would be eliminated.

America Is Now the Divided Republic the Framers Feared

It was divided in 1860. It was especially divided when Northern states marched armies into other states with the intent to subjugate them.

It has remained divided ever since.

Meh. The eligible voters who choose not to vote have outnumbered the turnout of either political party for 100+ years. Two political sides might be divided but a bigger slice is just apathetic.

Another hand wringing know nothing too gutless to actually point out the real cause of the problem.

The Democrat Fascists Party leadership has declared war on the rule of Law and basic standards of political behavior.

Hold the aggressors accountable for their aggression. Don’t be like this author trying to manufacture a fraudulent moral equivalence

"The Democrats, the party of diversity and cosmopolitan values, came to dominate in cities but disappeared from the exurbs. And the Republicans, the party of traditional values and white, Christian identity, fled the cities and flourished in the exurbs."

And the author who wrote the above is concerned about division?

“Federalist No. 10,” with its praise of fluid and flexible coalitions, is a vision of multiparty democracy.

Federlist No. 10 has always seemed to me to be prophesy. We have been on the path to uncontrollable factionalism for a long time. The catalyst for this, IMO, has been a failure to live by and up to our Constitution; and I fail to see how a multiparty system could fare any better than it did in the Weimar Germany

The Left are not my countrymen. I want nothing to do with them if not for blood. They are filthy scum that should be put down.

The first thing that needs to happen is for stupid white females to realize they are voting for filthy scum that should be put down. It’s long past time for them to stop playing “minority” and get with the program. White women are the most pampered human beings that have ever existed on this planet! They live surrounded by a virtually impenetrable security bubble that deters their enemies, one they did not create but serves only to keep them safe from harm. It’s time for a little gratitude on their part!

It could be done with ranked voting in some way. I would like to see the two party paradigm discarded, so something is worth exploring.
