We need allies in the struggle against robots. Monkeys could go either way.

But Chinese researchers have done just that

Gotta love the Chinese and their total lack of moral restraints.

Beware the beast man, for he is the Devil’s pawn. Alone among God’s primates, he kills for sport or lust or greed.

Pound-for-pound monkey muscles are 10x stronger than human muscles, I’m surprised the PLA hasn’t ordered babies with monkey muscle genes.

Junk science.

Read their introductory paragraph if the abstract:

“Brain size and cognitive skills are the most dramatically changed traits in humans during evolution...”

“Dramatically changed”? That’s not even close to a scientific introduction to a question and it tells where these showboat glory hounds are coming from.

Did you read that in the original Chinese? The second definition of "dramatically" is - "a strikingly large amount." Isn't it possible that something could be lost in the translation?

I find it hard to believe that 10x is an accurate figure. That would mean that a monkey of my size could easily lift 2.5 tons.

One, dramatic is not scientific. It’s scientifically meaningless.

Two. It’s in English.

Here is the article.

PS “strikingly large amount” is as meaningless scientifically as “dramatic”.

Correct, the 10x number dates to the 50s (See Heinlein’s Waldo & Magic, Inc.) later numbers were 4x and the most current is 1.35x, they can still pull and jump proportionally much more that humans (1.5x), probably a combo of raw muscle strength, and bio-mechanics giving a bit more leverage.

Still, imaging being in hand to hand combat with someone who is as smart as you, as trained as you, and 1/3 stronger!

When chimps attack they bite off your nose, and rip off your junk. I just watched a documentary “Jane” yesterday about Jane Goodall. She stated that chimps were 6 times as strong as a man.
