raqis are celebrating the death of Iran's elite Quds Force chief, General Qassem Soleimani, by "dancing in the street", said US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo while sharing a video of people holding a rally.
In the 22-second video which Pompeo shared on Twitter, people are seen running on a road carrying a several meter-long Iraq national flag. The video is of some unspecified location in Iraq.
This comes hours after the United States confirmed that Soleimani has been killed in a defence strike near Baghdad International Airport.
"Iraqis -- Iraqis -- dancing in the street for freedom; thankful that General Soleimani is no more," Pompeo tweeted.

Besides Soleimani, Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and five others were also killed in the US airstrike at Baghdad's international airport, reported Iraqi officials and state television.
The attack has come days after an Iran-backed militia and other protesters attacked the United States Embassy in Baghdad.
The attack on the embassy came as a retaliation to a US airstrike that killed at least 25 people of the Popular Mobilization Forces.
Now they’re calling Iran Trump’s Benghazi. Are they FINALLY admitting Her Heinous effed up big time in Benghazi?
Spoiler alert: twelver shias will be killing people simply because they exist and believe that they can force the Muslim messiah to appear if they cause enough chaos.
Ask yourself, WHY was an IRANIAN general in charge of TERRORISM ACTIONS in IRAQ?
It has been banned!
The best....!!
Thank you
Always wondered why the hawk left?
An Oh $#i moment, if ever there was one.
I cant help but wonder if any of these folks hit by those missiles saw them coming.
Gosh. They sure look provoked. Hope this doesn’t escalate./s
According to my dictionary “retaliate” means “To return like for like,” or “Take revenge.” According to my Theasaurus other terms like “retaliation” include: vengeance, reprisal, punishment.
Could you please identify your resource for your definition and also what WORD you would use to describe it. Writing “continuing the assault made which began the engagement” is such an awkward “word”. Also, could you please define the event which started the engagement. I am so glad to find someone who can help me with my inability to identify who the aggressor is, and who the defender is as it is unclear from your comment.

I spent over a decade in the military.
General Blownapart initiated an attack on Americans at Benghazi and Again in Baghdad. Two foreign counties not his own.
Being blown to pieces was a reprisal, and he was a legitimate military target.
If Iran kills a bunch of civilians someplace they are not legitimate military targets engaging them in a foreign country, now are they?
You refuse to concede that the dipshit Jihadi was a military Target who was engaged in terrorism.
There is no “Like for Like” here.
What Terrorist general do we have engaged in killing Iranian civilians do we have, gleeaikin?
Where is our “like” target?
The Iranian general wasn’t a bystander, and the people who he killed in the past and was trying to kill at our Bagdad embassy were mostly civilians.
Stevarino’s account has already been “banned or suspended”.
Um, can’t anybody spot propaganda any more? Do you really trust the US government to tell the truth about anything?
