It's hard to believe he was so unaware. How do you not know the ocean is not calm as you are walking on a day like that?
I doubt that was the only wave that was that big. Swells vary, occasionally you get the set of the day, but that's not normal to have a "rogue wave" as they described it. Perhaps that was the big one of the day, but they don't just suddenly come in like the article implies.
