THE DOCTOR IS IN!

DR. DEMENTO

Barret Hansen, Ph.D., a.k.a. Dr. Demento, specialized in novelty songs, comedy, and strange or unusual recordings dating from Edison wax cylinders to today. Barry created the Demento personality in 1970 while working at KPPC, a Los Angeles FM station. He played “Transfusion” by Nervous Norvus, and DJ Steven Clean said that Barry had to be “demented” to play it. The name stuck. His weekly show was syndicated from 1974 to 1992. The broadcast version ended in 2010, but the show continues to be produced weekly in an online version.

NERVOUS NORVUS: ”TRANSFUSION”

Nervous Norvus was Jimmy Drake, who got a major hit out of this in 1956.

Hey, love those chords in that song.

They are not quite Diminished
And not really Augmented...

I know!

They are D-mented!
