Progressive journalist Ryan Grim said Monday that the Democratic Party fears that a potential presidency for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) represents a threat to the party's establishment.
A Sanderss presidency is a threat of an entirely new party of which youre not necessarily welcome, or you might be welcome in but in extremely subservient and much less paid role, Grim, The Intercept's Washington, D.C., bureau chief, told Hill.TV.
That, I think, mingles with a genuine fear that Bernie Sanders isnt electable, and theyll run with whatever sticks, he added. Its too early to say what exactly is going to stick because theyve never thrown the whole kitchen sink at him before.
Sanders and his allies have repeatedly claimed that the Democratic Party is against his nomination. These fears were exacerbated in November when former President Obama reportedly told advisers in private that he would speak up if necessary to stop Sanders from becoming the Democratic pick.

Trump’s perfect storm.
Sanders calls himself a socialist and only caucuses with the Dimocrapts in the Senate. So what is the surprise?
Should've stopped there.
I think there’s two big problems for the Dems.
1) If Biden gets the nomination in a close one like with Hillary, Bernie might be the candidate for the Democratic Socialist Party, who already have a limited caucus prepared.
2) Regardless of the candidate, Bloomberg might go independent, thinking he can siphon votes from Trump, but in reality take a good 5-10% away from the Dems in a mirror image of 1992.
They dont come more progressive than Bernie Sanders.
Bernie is too honest about his socialism.
The D jerseys are still trying to scam voters that they are not socialists.
The only difference between the Dems and the socialists is how fast they want to implement socialism.
Good luck!
I’m all for it.
Let’s get that vote split!
When the Democrats start talking about Bernie’s wife’s bank fraud we will know they are serious.
It was my bank they robbed—I do not forget and I do not forgive.
Bernie is the product of Progressive politics so enjoy what you have wrought, Ryan.
I would love to see Sanders and Bloomberg run separate party campaigns and still Trump gets the popular vote.
A Grim assessment for the Democrats.+
By coincidence, this is exactly how communist parties end up working. Almost as if communism is designed for that to happen.Just for fun, here's a resignation letter from Socialist Alternative, which describes some of the excessively wordy inner workings: Letter of Resignation from Socialist Alternative.
Makes you wonder how Socialist parties hire janitors without splitting.
“the Democratic Party fears that a potential presidency for Sen. Bernie Sanders”
yeah, right. not much of a chance of that, so wouldn’t think the “fear” would be all that big ...
As if they dont know what the DNC, CNN, and Clinton conspired to do in 2016 to Sanders Democrat challenge.
"theyll run with whatever sticks"
It sure sounds like they deal from the same deck:
Mendacity! The only way they'd ever vote for us!
