Radical changes imposed on our military by progressives, begun in earnest during the Obama administration, are negatively impacting our combat readiness and jeopardizing the lives of our men and women in uniform and, ultimately, our national security. In Stand Down: How Social Justice Warriors Are Sabotaging America’s Military, author James Hasson elucidates how Barack Obama fundamentally changed military culture to make our nation less secure. Hasson, a former Army captain, Army Ranger School graduate, and Afghanistan veteran, argues that military readiness was sacrificed for identity politics and progressive rhetoric. He lists examples such as policies that established “safe spaces,” prohibited “micro-aggressions,” denigrated “hyper-masculine” traits, implemented unwise “green” standards and injected “social justice” guidelines in military operations.
In his revealing book, Captain Hasson describes how Obama’s military appointees, mainly progressive ideologues lacking military experience and hailing from academic, political, and the private sectors, were placed in charge of seasoned combat generals with decades of combat experience. The priorities, experience, and philosophies of the officers and appointees couldn’t have been more disparate.
Many senior military staff members suffered in silence at Obama’s attempt to use the military as a “laboratory for progressive social engineering,” according to Hasson. Exemplifying this shift was the naming of Navy ships after Leftist political heroes. Socialist labor-activist Cesar Chavez and slain gay-rights advocate Harvey Milk -- who left the Navy for being gay -- were among those who Ray Mabus, Obama’s secretary of the Navy, announced would have ships named after them. This practice flew in the face of the hallowed Navy tradition of naming ships after presidents and war heroes.

I went to a homeschool graduation ceremony back in 2008. Several of the boys there had plans to go into the military but due to the election of one Hussein Obama Marshall Davis they opted to take other avenues.
Fast forward to 2017 when my two oldest boys left for basic training and in the group that left from their recruiting station it was mostly all solid conservative, in fact many fine young Christian men. I’m sure my observation was not an isolated case.
....I couldn’t even read this article because the whole subject makes me so mad.
Who am I mad at? I’m mad at say the top 10% (approximately) of the officer corp of all branches who, from all reports and observations, did not resist the Prog’s demands.
And today, it appears that most of them are still there and still loyal to Obama.
As a retiring Army officer, I get to request a letter from each former president that I served under.
This means I requested a letter from Carter, Bush, and Obama. Carter has been in and out of the hospital and is desperately ill, yet managed to send a letter. Bush sent a letter. Obama hasn’t bothered. I know that Obama has equally ignored other requests by servicemembers.
But... we were subjected to “training” to make us accept that some women have dangly bits, and that if we get upset if those dangly bit “women” come into our locker room, we are guilty of discrimination. Thank God Trump put an end to that. Thank God Trump actually recognizes that the troops are human beings.
I got out in 2000 and it constantly amazes me the cultural change in the military that Obama wrought. Never in my wildest nightmares would I have thought that gays would be allowed to serve openly, gay marriages would happen at the service academy chapels, and gays would be put in positions of leadership like secretary of the army and senior flag officer posts. I guess we’ve stopped paying for sex changes now, that one was over the top.
No one could do such things unless their intent was to completely destroy military readiness. These actions are so antithetical to order and discipline in the military that your goal has to be destruction of the institution.
