About this time in every presidential nomination contest there is talk of a brokered convention. As if on cue, were hearing it again...
In years past, most delegates went to conventions unelected by voters and unpledged to candidates. This happens less frequently these days. Favorite son candidacies, once used to park delegates until deals were cut, are now extinct. The unit rule, which forced state delegations to vote unanimously for one candidate, is also gone. Democrats now require the nominee win only a majority of delegates, long ago discarding the old two-thirds requirement...
Party strategists instinctively fear prolonged intraparty battling and its effect on general election prospects. Thats why they push to unite around one candidate as fast as possible. Next year, there will be several opportunities for that to happen. The first comes in February when four states vote. If Joe Biden wins Iowa and New Hampshire and continues to top national polls, an effort could emerge to rally around the former vice president as the nominee. While its conceivable something like that could happen, its more likely party activists would oppose shutting down the competition so soon.
The next milestone is Super Tuesday, March 3. At that point, 40% of delegates will have been selected from 18 states. Unless its a tight two-way contest, there will be enormous pressure to stop the fight by the end of April when 88% of delegates from 40 states will have been elected.

No, you are missing the point. Hillary and the Dems blame Jill Stein for losing the election, especially in key states like MI, WI, and PA. Hillary has branded Stein as a Russian asset. You seem to buy into that argument.
My point is that Trump could claim something similar using the votes cast for Johnson and McMullen. I dont buy that argument either, although in the case of NeverTrumper McMullen, there is some substance there.
Hillary was a lousy candidate who has has used numerous excuses for why she lost. Jill Stein was one of them. Pure nonsense.
Yes, probably.
I know it is hard for us to believe (I have trouble believing it!) but the poll numbers say Biden is the front-runner and should get the nomination.
After Super Tuesday if he has a substantial delegate lead, fuggedaboudit.
I have no idea how Hillary spoke of Stein; it is her supporters who blamed Stein (the same thing played out in 2000 with Nader).
Trump supporters could - and would - claim something similar if he had lost, but he won anyway.
As lazy as she is, I cant see her jumping into this mess. She's got it made - why bother?
Well, I assume the nominee will not be outright mentally ill.
When Hillary accused Tulsi Gabbard of being a possible Russian asset, she mentioned that Stein was a Russian asset.
BS on a moral equivalency between Trump and Hillary supporters. When the Dems lose, they come up with conspiracy theories. When Hillary lost, there were requests for recounts in WI, MI, and PA. There was a concerted campaign to persuade Trump electors not to cast their ballots for Trump in the Electoral College. Many Dems in Congress boycotted the Inauguration while Dem mobs protested it. Talk of impeachment began before the Inauguration. Over the past three years, four separate votes were taken in the House to impeach Trump.
We can recall the Dems refusal to accept Bush 43 as legitimate and the court battles over hanging chads. Stacey Abrahams still claims she won and blames voter suppression. The Dems are undermining our Republic by refusing to accept the results of elections. It is highly dangerous and irresponsible. Hillary and the Dems are still blaming Russian meddling for Trumps victory despite the findings of the Mueller report.
RESULTS...chaos prevails for the RATs through 2020 and our President, President Donald J. Trump, re-elected!!
I predict the speeches will be this:
Comrades, I have to refuse the nomination. My health and record on the use of illegal quid pro quos in various countries intervenes with my sincere outrage against this illegal President, but no worries since Comrade 2 will carry out banner forward.
2nd Comrades, I also have to refuse the nomination because I need to spend more time with my family on a reservation yet to be determined
3rd: Comrades, I believe I can do more for the country by leaving the country to support the world wide movement for climate change since we only have 10.2 years left.
4th: I never expected to get this much opportunity to become President as the First Husband. It is a real “kick” in the butt to coin a phrase.
