Richard Painter, the chief White House ethics lawyer under President George W. Bush, tore into Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell over his plans for the Senate impeachment trial of President Trump.
"The oath of loyalty is to the United States of America, not to Donald Trump. These senators, Democrats and Republicans, have an obligation to hear the facts, to hear witnesses, and make a decision," Painter said Thursday on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360. "And for Mitch McConnell to say he’s working with the White House, coordinating with the defendant in this trial before the trial has even begun, is atrocious. He may think he’s a judge impaneling an all-white jury for a Klansman trial in Mississippi in 1965. That’s not the kind of trial we have."

AND I CALLED IT. I knew that if these GOP elites didn't allow any and all witnesses to be called in the Senate and pushed for some quick dismissal instead of allowing Trump a full and lengthy trial that THIS SpECIFICALLY would be what these democrats and RINOS would charge him with - and I used this exact example. I said specifically that they would say it was no different than having an all-white jury saying not guilty to a white man who had killed a black man...

I hate these people more than any foreign enemy because they are (unfortunately) American. EVERYTHING they say is projection and perversion of our country’s system under our magnificent Constitution and the Founders and it’s maddening.

Sorry, Mr. Painter, impartiality cannot be one-sided. The Democrats started their non-impartial trial against Trump, and McConnell is going to finish it.

That “all-white jury” will include one black man and two Cubans (I guess they count as “white Hispanics”) among the Republican senators.
