I’m confused too and would like to know the timeline. The boy was molested by the priest in 2009(?) The boy told his dad in 2010(?), his dad then confessed that he had been molested by the same priest and killed himself due to guilt (?) The boy then grows up plotting revenge, gets the job which gives him access in 2018(?), and exacts?. Poorly written partial news story. Screenplay writes itself.

I would guess that this wasn’t plotted, but rather chance.
His employment brought him next to the guy and he snapped.
Usually in these cases the kids get as far away as possible from where things happened to them but in a depressed economy that may not be very far.
The church shuold have given as much evidence as was there to the authorities.
If the filthy old pedophile had been locked up where he should have been the young guy would never have seen him again.

It is a very poorly written piece, for sure. Such awful writing. We shouldn’t have to work this hard to comprehend the story line.
The way I read it is the murderer Alexandre was working as a housekeeper for this priest and was molested by him. Alexandre’s father Stephane was also molested by this same priest. When Stephane’s father learned of the molestation of Stephane, Stephane’s father killed himself.
Seems strange that Stephane would allow the boy to go to work for the priest.
