My premise is that legalization of drugs will not end all the problems.

Of course not - and nobody here has said or implied otherwise. But criminalization of drugs, like the criminalization of the drug alcohol before it, has limited effect on the extent of drug use, while doing much to enrich criminals with all the ills that follow. Restoring the legality of alcohol was the right choice, and so would be restoring the legality of other drugs. Not so as to shake things up too much; legalizing marijuana is as far as we should go as the second step (alcohol having been the first).

Thanks for your follow-up comments.

I don’t think legalization of pot is going to be as great for society as some folks have thought it would be.

It is pretty much becoming a fate accompli, so hashing (if you will) it at at this point, is not worth the time.
