Democrats Seek To Outlaw Suburban, Single-Family House Zoning, Calling It Racist And Bad For The Environment
The Daily Caller ^ | 12/23/19

Posted on 12/23/2019 1:47:25 PM PST by Liberty7732

Virginia House Del. Ibraheem Samirah introduced a bill that would override local zoning officials to permit multi-family housing in every neighborhood, changing the character of quiet suburbs.

Oregon passed a similar bill, following moves by cities such as Minneapolis; Austin, Texas; and Seattle.

Proponents say urban lifestyles are better for the environment and that suburbs are bastions of racial segregation.

I’ve posted for a long time that part of the global warming scam was to get young Westerners to accept they’d never have children, private automobiles, or single-family homes - and they would give them up voluntarily to “save the Earth”.

Who would risk 30 years of mortgage payments, or the loss of value in 10/15 years, if a nice single-family area (where everyone is vested in the long-term viability of the area) deteriorates into a collection of non-owners passing through? Low-income people inserted into housing by the government, etc. - nobody would buy a home if that outcome is a possibility.

More exurban or rural areas can stop it—vote no on any effort to extend city water or city waste water treatment to your area.

If they don’t have the infrastructure they can’t build the apartments—full stop.

Many people here in northeastern NJ originally came from NYC (at some point or other in their background), and single-family homes and private automobiles were a big reason for moving. Now we have empty HOV lanes on highways because people love their cars; too much mass transit is infested with violent young ferals or homeless people - no thanks.

The goal is not to take these things by force, but let them attrite out; children born today will have a much smaller chance of having a car, a single-family home, or children.

Hiding behind “climate change” will allow them to force people into multi-family hives, and set aside some units for gibsmedats - destroying not just the neighborhood, but the school system as well.

Yeah, use the environmental nonsense against them. Turn a couple of kangaroos loose in the woods and insist you must protect the rare North American Kangaroo...

Iowa quietly redefined family rendering single family zoning moot.

A family is now people living together.................

I never faulted a NIMBY mentality from people tied to 360 months of mortgage payments; nobody will buy a house if they think their area will be targeted for Gibsmedat Relocation. No reason to destroy peoples’ nest eggs with this nonsense; it is basically breaching contracts with them.

Not. Texas has no zoning laws, never did, and its homeowners have done just fine for the past 75 or so years.

Maybe the easier availability of firearms keeps things civil.

I couldn’t imagine sinking 30 years of payments into an area specifically designed for single family homes if that could just be tossed aside; in my area, the broke cities would simply export their gibsmedats to the surrounding areas.

It's less dramatic than that. IMO it's more the absence of government regulations in general, which includes the abundance of buildable land.

Texas was independent prior to its admission to the Union, so the Federal government didn't own any land there while the Texas state government owned almost everything, and sold off almost all of that to private buyers over the next 150 years.

Plus Texas is pretty flat while Texans need protection from its environment. California is anything but flat (save in the San Joaquin Valley) and its climate is so wonderful that it needs protection from Californians.

My thought is to move into an already screwed-up neighborhood, along with a couple of big German Shepherds, start a new round of “gentrification”, and then sell high and move out of state (taking the “Lads” with me).

I’d be very nervous about what could happen a couple of property lots away if I was to be sending 360 monthly payments to a bank for my land & house...

As it is, more and more people in my area are illegally converting single-family homes to multi-family homes (illegally because either the zoning prohibits it, or they just don’t want to get the proper permits/pay the higher property taxes), it makes both the parking situation and commuting a nightmare. There is simply little demand for large detached single-family homes with three or four bedrooms. When it is time to sell your home, having those modified homes around you will certainly impact the price in a negative way - unless your home can be legally modified the same way.

Me too - they don’t mention that suburban living is so seggetated because Blacks are not only minorities, but a minority of them have the education and work ethic to buy a house - not many suburban tracts have low-income housing...

And with all this comes the outlawing of true Bible-believing Christians and churches that preach truth. Communism and Christianity are natural enemies because of Communism’s innate cruelty.

The Brampton Ontario government looks the other way which results in 20 or more people living under the same roof because thats what they do in India. In addition to these large extended families of parents grandparents and cousins, owners immediately put in an illegal basement apartment and install a few visa workers to cover the mortgage . Next comes the cars parked on the street, boulevard, front yard. It’s ridiculous to see 6-8 Beemers or Mercedes clogging up yards and parked sideways on driveways of these once modest neighborhoods.. Our utilities, services and roads are designed for single families, not this Bangladesh chaos. The reason for the the degradation of the quality of life here is simple: liberals pandering for new immigrant votes.
