A great man once explained why New Jersey needed to tighten up its requirements for issuing driver’s licenses.
"In an era after 9/11 it is so critical to have working safeguards to show we are who we say we are,” this man said back in 2004 as he implemented an ID system with a six-point verification system to prevent fraud.
That great man – or perhaps I should say “great politician” - was none other than Jim McGreevey. Though his run as governor ended later that year for unrelated reasons, McGreevey had the soundest of political instincts.
As for the current Democrat in the job, not so much. Last week, Gov. Phil Murphy led his party into a loss of three seats in legislative elections. A major reason for the loss was the pounding the Democrats took on the issue of immigration. Typical was a flyer that landed in my mailbox informing me that the Republican Assembly candidates in my district intended to “Repeal Governor Murphy’s Sanctuary State” and “Oppose driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants.”
The Democratic majorities in both houses are now pushing a bill that would permit the issuance of such licenses. The timing is not in their favor.
That’s because the Department of Homeland Security is pushing New Jersey residents to get a license that meets the six-point requirements for the federal “Real ID” program.
Never mind that those requirements overlap with the six points of ID that you have to present under the McGreevey reform.
You will have to dig out those documents and schlep down to the Motor Vehicle Commission office again.
If you don’t do that by Oct. 1 of next year, your license will not permit you to gain entrance to those dreaded TSA airport checkpoints that are another legacy of 9/11.

Noting that the states have never expressly constitutionally given the corrupt, unconstitutionally big federal government the specific power to establish national healthcare for citizens, healthcare a state power issue, politically correct, vote-winning, desperate Democratic healthcare for illegal immigrants is also arguably a violation of the involuntary servitude aspect of the 13th Amendment imo.

I renewed my drivers license Friday The first thing they put on the application in bold letters is to register to vote.
On a separate line there was illegal aliens getting their now mandated NY State drivers licenses. I suppose the same question was on their forms.

Last week on local so-called 'conservative' talk radio, the host did this issue.
I thought it would be cut and dry and no one would support driver licenses for illegal aliens. Boy was I wrong.
The majority of callers said they support DL for IA and they repeated all the absurd claims such as it would make it easier to track them, it would make our streets safer (how it makes driving safer I have no idea), and they couldn't use them to vote.
The host, even pointing to examples of illegal aliens getting away with vehicular homicides, didn't change opinions.
I won't say a majority support this but a large number believe the liberal talking points.

In NY this may be about the census but in swing States it’s about votes. If you are an IL from NY, you get a drivers license, then you move to a State that doesn’t allow illegals drivers licenses. You turn in your NY license they give you the motor voter form, you say yes and you’re home free. No Id at the polls will help and once you vote it’s virtually impossible to prove it was a fraudulent vote. (secret ballot and all). These drivers licenses are worth hundreds of thousands of votes.
States need to insist on real ID drivers licenses for everyone. Tell your representatives.
It’s also yet another scheme of the Party of Hate and Evil to buy votes.

Several stories have reported border agents in picking up the discarded garbage at the border frequently find copies of the Qu'uran. Who knew so many Spanish speaking people learned Arabic and Farsi? Wonder where the mysterious Qu'uran readers went when they got into the US? Demolition companies, pilot training schools, who knows.
