A man wanted out of Pennsylvania was arrested Sunday morning in Smyth County, Virginia.
Officials say a deputy was working radar in the construction zone near the 53-mile marker on Interstate 81 just after midnight, when a Ford pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The deputy attempted a traffic stop, but the truck accelerated and fled to exit 47, north on Highway 11, and eventually into a field at the end of Tranquility Lane.
Officials say, after a brief standoff, in which the driver made multiple threats that he had a firearm, he was taken into custody.
The driver, identified as 35-year-old Francis Edward Ney III of Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, was charged with the following:
Speeding, Reckless Driving, Felony Eluding, Improper Registration, No Drivers License, Obstruction of Justice, Possession of Burglary tools, Possession of Stolen Vehicle, and Use of a Smoke Screen Device.
I’m betting these three winners are registered to vote, too.
“Use of a Smoke Screen Device” ???
Didn’t know that one was on the books.
I think it’s printed on Gin bottles.
The situation ended peace fully on Tranquillity Lane.
Coal town, Shenandoah PA, not to be confused with the one in VA.
Near the notorious extinct village of Centralia where burns an underground fire that began in the 1960’s. Shendo, as the locals call it, is probably on the list of cheapest ten towns in the USA for real estate.
Claim to fame: said to be the birthplace of bandleader Tommy Dorsey.
And so why was he initially a wanted man in PA? Sharp minds want to know.
“Use of a Smoke Screen Device”???
Yep, ever since Goldfinger.
...Shenandoah Va. is in a beautiful part of the Commonwealth...east-ish of Harrisonburg; north-ish of Charlottesvile.... according to legend (or maybe fact...), “shenandoah” is from a local Indian word meaning “daughter of the stars...”
“and Use of a Smoke Screen Device.”
Just like a finger in the jacket pocket, pretty sure since he said he had a gun, he could be charged with a gun related crime, as well.
“”A man wanted out of Pennsylvania””
Well, he was definitely OUT!
Don’t worry. Our MARXIST States Attorney General will set him free on $10 bond.
