Someone explain to me why this is our concern? If the Europeans want to set themselves up for Russian blackmail, so be it. If US distributors can’t compete price wise is this due to EU anti American tariffs or simply Russian proximity to the market?

What is the purpose of NATO?

If this is just a ho-hum international commercial transaction, then maybe we don’t need NATO. While NATO exists, it’s pretty questionable.

Other than the “paying for the rope that will be used to hang you”, it makes sense for euroweenies to buy NG from Russia, who has the worlds largest NG reserves, and is right next door. It certainly begs the question of why we are supporting their defense with our hard earned tax dollars.

1) It proves that the US Deep State is made up of Free Traitors not Free Traders
2) The only blackmail there's ever been associated with Europe buying Russian gas was back when the USSR was still around and Ukraine forced a shutdown of the flow, not Russia. The only current blackmail is the EU insisting that gas still flow through Ukraine even though there's bound to be five or ten percent stolen every single day, day in, day out, as long as the gas flows. IOW, blackmail to make the Russian costs higher than they would otherwise be and even with that LNG is far more expensive.

IMHo, Trump will go along with anything that pisses the Europeans off because their being pissed makes it more likely he can collapse NATO. The Deep State and the Brussels crowd are desperate to keep NATO going because it's a huge cash cow where the deficiencies are easily hidden and the immense amount of paperwork for every little thing makes tracking theft down very difficult.

Yeah, the allies bought oil from Hitler and then wondered what they did to piss him off when he seized Romania.

Bottom line is the pissant Euros and their miniscule expenditures for the military ALLOW them to buy from their Russian master.

Well, it’s NOT any of our concern. But I don’t blame Trump for signing off on it. It passed Congress with way more votes than would be need to override his veto if he wanted to make that pointless gesture. He can just show good judgement and go easy on the actual enforcement of these particular sanctions.

Now that’s funny. It is certainly looking like blackmail but it is obviously not Russian.
And if you want that badly for US to sell gas to Europe petition the government to raise taxes so they can subsidize exporters to the tune of $100 billions annually.
Empire is never cheap.
