The Mormon church announced it would stop sponsoring Boy Scout Troops back in May of 2018. The effective date is December 31, 2019. It’s sad to see this happen. I think it harms both institutions. The church and Boy Scouts have actually had some pretty strong disagreements going back a long time. I was surprised it didn’t happen sooner.
