The first great secessionist cause was the Revolution, when the 13 American colonies declared and won independence from the British crown.

It is solemnly declared today that our Revolution was about ideas, such as the equality of all men. But the author of the Declaration did not believe in equality.

Jefferson was a Virginia plantation owner, some of whose slaves were with him in Philadelphia. He described Native Americans in the Declaration as "merciless Indian Savages." The British are fraternally called "brethren" with whom we share "ties of a common kindred," but who have been "deaf to the voice of consanguinity."

For heaven’s sake Pat, get a grip.

Our Founders recognized the evils of slavery, but slavery was an existing problem, that could not be addressed at the time of our founding, or the nation would not have been formed do to opposition to ending slavery in some of the original colonies, and slavery would have continued on anyway.

Our founding documents laid the basis for addressing slavery later on, with language declaring ALL men (mankind) created equal.

Lest anyone forget, the U. S. accounted for less than 5% of all slaves globally, and yet the U. S. is singled out time and again as if it were the scourge of the planet due to slavery here. Nonsense!

Comments like these bolster the race baiting class, and are thus very destructive. We SHOULD NOT make comments that bolster the case for anti-Americans amongst us.
