The gleaming white booth towered over the medical conference in Italy in October, advertising a new brand of antidote for opioid overdoses. “Be prepared. Get naloxone. Save a life,” the slogan on its walls said.

Some conference attendees were stunned when they saw the company logo: Mundipharma, the international affiliate of Purdue Pharma — the maker of the blockbuster opioid, OxyContin, widely blamed for unleashing the American overdose epidemic.

Here they were cashing in on a cure.

“You’re in the business of selling medicine that causes addiction and overdoses, and now you’re in the business of selling medicine that treats addiction and overdoses?” asked Dr. Andrew Kolodny, an outspoken critic of Purdue who has testified against the company in court. “That’s pretty clever, isn’t it?”

Meet the original billionaire inventer of Oxy, the SACKLER FAMILY..!

Now let's take look at opioid deaths in the USA over time:

Wow, that's a lot. I wonder what might help to account for that amazing growth:

Shameful, huh..? In view of such evil ambition, I wonder how profitable opiods are, huh..? The Sackler family owns an incredible 1/3 of the entire legal opiods market and they route all of their profits through Bermuda, where they own a non-descript office building.

I wonder HOW rich you can get...

But that's just ONE of their many houses.

This one goes for $32 million dollars and it's in Bel Air, next to Beverly Hills.

After HOOKING people, you probably won't believe that they were also recently granted a patent for a drug to get people UN-hooked, would you..?

Yes, paid to hook people, then paid to UN-hook them. Nice biz, huh...?

Nice medal, maybe he planted a flag on Mount Suribachi, right...?

Uh-huh, sure...!

If you weren't in the military, could you wear a serious look on your face while you walked around with a MEDAL on your suit jacket..?

That takes real brass.

For those who won't click on the article, here is an image of the key paragraph:

They sold a product that created a huge problem, then sold a product to mitigate the problem caused by their first product.

Once again the Liberals blame an inanimate object or its makers for the irresponsibility of users of that product.

I graduated nursing school in 2008, well after the rise in opioid/opiate deaths had begun. The official teaching was still something like “less than 1% of patients prescribed opiates for pain become addicted”. The students were far more skeptical than the professors.

Then there were the Press-Ganey surveys given to hospital patients: “How well was my pain treated?” with the answers contributing to employee review.

People get hooked on drugs all by themselves, I know, my doctors TOLD ME I would become Addicted 40 years ago, and I did!! Big Time. in the 70’s it was a little different, I was scheduled to be in the Hospital for 3 weeks after surgery to go through withdrawls under doctors care, and it worked, but I had no desire to take the pills anymore because the Pain was Gone as soon as I woke up from surgery.

Withdrawls from Opiates is about a week, with the first 3 days being pretty brutal.

Heroin, fentanyl, etc. are also inanimate objects. The Sackler family is as criminal as the rest of the drug cartels. I’m not a “liberal”.

The Obama administration made pain the fifth vital sign. People think they should have zero pain. If the doctor tries to say otherwise they are dinged and run the risk of losing their job and license

Not a liberal?

Liberals deny personal responsibility, as do you. A gun is an inanimate object. Do you also accuse the NRA & Smith-Wesson of criminality? How about cars, which kill thousands each year? Are GM & other car makers criminals? The ban list is long & its advocacy leads to tyranny.

What you are advocating for will leave thousands of Americans, including veterans, in severe pain without legal access to pain relieving drugs, ultimately sentencing them to a life of misery. Ironically, illegal Heroin might end up being their only recourse.

Where in the US Constitution does its say or even imply the government may regulate what citizens may/may not consume? When the government bans the eating of meat, will you become a vegan or a criminal?

If you are a young person, understand that one day you will be old, sick & hurting too bad to get out of bed, save for that pill that makes life worth living a little longer.

If you are old, you ought to know better.

Don’t presume to tell me what I am.
It’s a very complex and shady set of intentional crimes and frauds which made the Sacklers multi-billionaires. Their interest was not in relieving the pain of those in legitimate need. They used both Medicaid and the VA to do it, too.
