President Trump has been discussing with his campaign advisers whether or not to participate in the general election debates in 2020, two people close to the situation told The New York Times.
According to the sources, Trump doesn't trust the Commission on Presidential Debates, the nonprofit organization that puts on the debates. Specifically, Trump is apprehensive of who will be chosen by the organization to moderate the debates, the Times reports.
Trump's campaign reportedly declined to comment on what their plan was for the debates at a state-of-the-race campaign briefing in Arlington, Va.
During the 2016 campaign, the president persistently complained about his debates with former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, claiming that he was put at a disadvantage.

I believe it's a good idea.
It would infuriate Democrats and the media.
I can see the media holding monologues with Biden alone on stage and him rambling on and on and growing angrier and angrier that Trump is ignoring him and isn't taking him seriously.

Everyone knows who and what he is at this point. What’s the point of a debate? And why give his opponent the exposure?
let the dems pick one debate forum and Trump pick the other.

This is a NEGOTIATING POSITION. The networks are scheming to sandbag trump with biased moderators and debate setup.
So threaten to skip them. Doesn’t mean he will.

I think he is right. The moderators have been awful. I would watch is Lou Dobbs was a moderator.
Levin yes, Hannity no.
Hannity would interrupt all answers while Levin would act more like a prosecutor.

Good idea. With the exception of Ronald Reagan, the debates, controlled by Democrats, have never done Republicans any good. Their purpose is not to inform or get to the truth. And Trump is not the debater that his son is.
Trump needs to approve any “moderators” and venues/audiences.

It’s been years since Pelosi debated any opponents in her district.
Offer to let the dem schmuck show up next him as he’s getting on the helicopter. Let the stooges shout their inaudible, biased questions. Then Trump and whoever could duke it out fairly.
