On Wednesday, the South Carolina Republican Partys conclusion to not hold a 2020 Presidential primary has been confirmed and upheld.
This will make it even more difficult for less prominent candidates who are pushing to win against Trump.
The resolution was upheld by Circuit Judge Jocelyn Newman, who said the law does not give Plaintiffs a legal right to a presidential preference primary, and the Court will not substitute its own judgment for that of the General Assembly or the SCGOP.
Bob Inglis, former South Carolina congressmen sued state Republicans, claiming this decision to skip the primary, strips him and other likely candidates of the ability to vote for the candidate of their choice in South Carolinas famous (and particularly influential) First in the South primary.
More from NBC News:
South Carolina is among several states that have canceled Republican primaries and caucuses next year, an effort that helps Trump consolidate his support as Democrats work to winnow their large candidate field. The move, taken September in South Carolina by the state partys executive committee, is not unusual for the party of the White House incumbent seeking reelection.
Challengers have emerged to Trump, including former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld and former Illinois congressman Joe Walsh. Mark Sanford, a former congressman and governor from South Carolina, entered the race but left after two months.

The demonrats are tired of stuffing ballot boxes, they are just going to create blue states.
Who is going to contest them?
Kasich/Flake 20!
Good. SC can save a few bucks. Maybe we will get another $50 rebate.
ps
No other state in the union would rebate a tax wind fall. I love SC.
Winning never grows old.
So do I. Been here since Sep of 2003. SC can't be beat. Great people, super weather.
For cryin out loud, its not a coronation. We will still vote on Election Day but we dont need a primary. Trump is THE GOP candidate why should I go vote when we know that? Well still go vote in the General election in November when both Trump and the winner from the democrat clown car show are on the ballot. The cancellation is for the 2020 Primary. It is not a decision to never, ever have one again. This saves the SC GOP from wasting money. Get a grip.
I agree. That wasn't my point.
"The reason that probably most patriots today accept primary elections as constitutional is that we grew up with this constitutionally baseless process and consequently wrongly think that primaries are somehow constitutional."
I am not so sure about presidential primaries being unconstitutional...
Amendment XXIV

The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any primary or other election for President or Vice President, for electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state by reason of failure to pay any poll tax or other tax.
2. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

You’re right. I should have said “What is the SC GOP afraid of?
Suppose President Trump has a heart attack or worse?
