America has been dealing with a flood of new immigrants for years. And yet when did the GOP have its largest representation in the House of Representatives since the 1950s? It was after the 2014 elections.

Remarkable as it may seem, the GOP House majority in 2015-2016 was larger than what we saw even after the transformational "tidal wave" elections of 1994 that saw them regain control of the House for the first time in decades.

True. But I’m basing my sad prediction (post #43) on California. It is, I think, a model for where the rest of the country is slowly drifting.

Will California ever turn Republican again? That would be very, very unlikely. And that’s the problem. GOP states turn reliably Democrat. But Democrat states don’t turn reliably GOP.
