A sprawling federal investigation into lobbying, patronage and alleged corruption threatens to upend Illinois’s powerful Democratic machine as agents raid offices and interrogate witnesses from Chicago to Springfield.
Federal agents have conducted searches of at least nine homes and offices in connection to a probe of Commonwealth Edison, the state’s largest utility, and the political operation run by state House Speaker Mike Madigan, the most powerful Democrat in Illinois.
Those agents have been asking questions about Madigan, his associates and his political operation, according to two people who have sat for interviews with law enforcement.

That’s like looking for a shiny object in a cesspool.
I actually knew a truly decent Republican Illinois House member who was also a CPA with a super-solid reputation.
He hasn’t been in office since the 2000s.
Taking the ill out of Illinois
Do a means test audit of all family members and mistresses.
Then have the IRS audit them.
Then have the family members and mistresses rat out the crooked politicians to save their skins.
Game. Set. Match.
Corruption in Illinois?
Far less effort would be exerted if they tried to look for the one or two honest folks in the very definition of a “typical Democrat corrupt and woebegone state”.
IL has been under full time federal investigation for ever and it hasn’t stopped the corruption.
I read the article and it looks like most if not everything they are being accused of is Standard Operating Procedure here in California and especially in Congress.
Of course they are corrupt!
They are Democrats!
Madigan carries no cell phone and has no email address.
No electronic paper trail.
No dummy, he.
Hope the feds investigate Kalifornia for political corruption, they’ll find a gold mine of crime and kickbacks!
