If military bases are gun free, how did the terrorist get a gun in there?

How about a metal detector!? Congress is protected, time to protect other law abiding citizens that are disarmed and defenseless.

"It is absolutely pathetic when the military cannot defend its own bases. Our Navy and Marine Corps have over 500,000 sailors and Marines in uniform total. I am sure we could spare some for base security. What kind of military needs to defer to the local civilians because it lacks the specialized training to deal with a single bad guy with a pistol?"

This is not the case for the Air Force. They have specialized Security Forces that are the best trained and equipped in the Armed Forces, and this is the kind of incident they constantly train for. Based on past incidents, anyone that penetrates or initiates an incident United States Air Force base (especially one that houses strategic weapon systems) tends not to live to tell about.

That is excellent, kudos to the Air Force. The scene of the local police streaming onto base is something I remember from multiple past incidents such as Major Hassan - Fort Hood (Army) and now this incident (Navy)... Good to point out that somebody is on the ball.

They were students on the base - authorized to be there! An ID check would not have stopped them.

They disarm the navy officers for fear of them and allow this to happen

Following is a portion of the text on my commissioning document:

‘Know Ye that, reposing special trust and confidence in the patriotism, valor, fidelity and abilities of XXX...’

If these words mean anything, everybody with this document should be allowed to carry everywhere in the US.

Hard to tell what is the subject in the second photo.

The service member is wearing a pregnancy "empathy belly."

From Stars and Stripes:

Soldiers don fake belly, breasts to better understand pregnant troops' exercise concerns

Oh gee. I suppose I’m better off for knowing that. Thanks.

Perhaps our female warriors can don “testicles” with appropriate sensor feedback for H2H combat exercises.

Or are they already exempt from interpersonal combat?
