About 100 Hasidic families recently moved to Jersey City because Crown Heights is too expensive. Given that, I expect a very large influx and increasing friction with the neighborhood.
That’s what I suspected; I hadn’t seen a trace of them years ago. I’m surprised they are willing to move into this particular area - it is definitely one of Jersey City’s most dangerous, with little hope of improvement without a mass movement of the permanent underclass. I don’t believe there are PATH stations there (to connect to more vibrant parts of Jersey City, NYC, or even Newark’s downtown), and as the news mentioned yesterday, there IS a Martin Luther King Drive.
