Gun violence continues to be a growing problem in Philadelphia and more and more young people are being impacted. So far this year, 110 children have been injured or killed as a result of gun violence.
On Tuesday night, community members gathered at a town hall meeting aimed at fighting gun violence thats striking the citys youth. Its become a tipping point for many young people throughout Philadelphia.
So now a few dozen young people are gathering in hopes of curbing the violence plaguing those under 18.

No it doesn’t- GANG VIOLENCE continues to be a growing problem
Crack down on your GANGS PA and leave law abiding gun owners alone! Guns aren’t the problem- GANGS are!
You notice how they include injury too - in order to increase the number. Also, I don’t know about the data sources for this article, but the majority of sources I found were counting people up to the ages of 19 and in some instances 21 as “children.” Again, another tactic to pump up the numbers and cause an emotional response. It’s all manipulation.
We can’t blame all guns due to the actions of a few.
Gun violence, like if there weren’t any it would be knife violence, home depot truck violence, bat violence, like biden said no one told me it was wrong to do this
I am an optimist who shares your pessimistic opinion.
NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE UNTIL NORTH PHILLY GOES BACK...BACK TO THE DAYS OF BLACK “FAMILIES” INSTEAD OF GANGS.
Black women are strong, if they wanted to change the culture, THEY COULD.
They desperately need a good leader.
DIAMOND AND SILK COMES TO MIND.
I recall an article about some tribes in Africa that were always fighting and killing each other. The women from both tribes were sick of their kids getting killed. They agreed as a group that they would not have sex with their husbands until the fighting stopped.
I would like to think the women of Philly could do a similar thing - but I sort of doubt it. “How’s I do get more EBT money if’n I don’t have another child!?”
There just might be enough to change things, if they were inspired.
There are some people who will NEVER be convinced that a change is possible, but I and Don Quixote have hope.
The “youth” are not going to change things, the “mothers” will.
Every year, approximately 6,000 blacks are murdered.
This is a number greater than white and Hispanic homicide victims combined, even though blacks are only 12 percent of the national population.
Blacks of all ages are killed at six times the rate of whites and Hispanics combined.
