A study prepared by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) for state lawmakers suggests more fees to defray infrastructure costs and reduce emissions from emerging transportation methods
...
Those fees, if implemented, could result in $14 million to $80 million more in annual revenue...
Critics of the studys fee recommendations argue they could harm consumers.
...
Emerging transportation includes car rentals, ridesharing apps like Uber and Lyft, and food delivery apps like Uber Eats, and e-commerce deliveries, such as Amazon Flex, which delivers packages to consumers doorsteps.
...
CDOT Executive Director Shoshana Lew wrote in a letter to lawmakers accompanying the study that the states transportation funding is insufficient and outdated.
...
Government entities in the state have increasingly used fees as a work-around to the Taxpayers Bill of Rights, which requires voter approval for all tax increases.
...
Kelly Sloan, executive director of the Freedom to Drive coalition, called CDOTs goals social engineering and argued that its recommendations could cause serious economic harm for consumers and businesses.
If this is supposed to be raising money for transportation infrastructure then everybody should be paying their fair share and [electric vehicles] shouldnt be getting a free pass,
...
While the working group didnt come to a consensus on a specific fee structure, it recommends that mileage-based fees would more readily meet the requirements of SB 239, but a flat rate fee would be easier to implement.
The working group also said shared rides and rides in electric vehicles should be discounted to incentivize use and single-rider trips should be discouraged.

Shoshana's only qualification is her close relationship to Michelle Obama who called the newly elected governor for a favor - find a job for Shoshana..
Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
“We need to rape the taxpayers more!”
Supposing the new “fees” will go to pay for Shoshana’s salary in part; the rest would likely go in some other politician’s back pocket. Sounds like just a different way of spelling corruption.
The majority of Colorado voters are living proof, paraphrasing H L Mencken, that “the people know what they want, and deserve to get it, good and hard”...
So a few more serfs die due to poor roads and bridges.
Fine with the typical dim politician.
Total BS. Shoshana is a car hater who will not spend one dime of this on roads or repairs.
Mark my words. The day is soon coming when you will pay a fee for each mile driven, and fees based on where you go, how many people are in the car, what type of car, etc. Moreover you will pay extra to handle the wheel or depart from the appointed route.
Oink, oink, more cash for us pols to pocket! Greedy bastards!
