Why did a foreign national have access to a firearm? Firearms are available any place in the world to someone with a support structure and millions of dollars to play with.
Asking "why" implies there is some way to stop access to firearms.
There is not, given time and plenty of money. Easy enough to make firearms from scratch, with time and money.
Sounds as if there were at least 10 other Saudis involved. He had the gun within five days of arriving at Pensacola.
My suspicion is it was all set up in advance.

Fox was reporting this ma that if you get a hunting license a “visitor” can legally buy a gun. Not sure what game you hunt wiht a Glock. If you are participating in shooting matches, you can purchase a pistol.
We will know shortly if that were the case here.
I doubt it.
You cannot stop a person with a network and lots of money from getting firearms.
