Full title: A top Trump health appointee reportedly tried to get taxpayers to reimburse her for $47,000 in jewelry that got stolen from a rented SUV

President Donald Trump's appointee to run the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requested that taxpayers cover roughly $47,000 worth of jewelry and other items that were stolen from her while she traveled for work, Politico reported Saturday evening.

The appointee, Seema Verma, reportedly had her luggage stolen from a rented SUV in July 2018 during a trip to San Francisco, where she gave a speech.

Among the items Verma sought reimbursement for were some two dozen pieces of jewelry appraised at $43,065, $2,000 worth of clothes, a $325 moisturizer, $349 noise-cancelling headphones, and an Ivanka Trump-brand pendant valued at $5,900 and made of gold, prasiolite, and diamonds

Verma reportedly wrote in her claim that none of the jewelry was insured, and that she had had the items appraised by a jeweler several weeks after the theft.

Really? Was she working with that guy who was building a quantum leap generator in his garage?

Seema Verma needs to be attacking Nazi Pelosi for compensation.

The ‘Rats need to be made responsible for their Peeps. Foreign or Domestic.

But no one blinked an eye when Solyndra pissed away millions of tax dollars on a green scheme.

It was not an insurance claim. It was a claim for you and me to reimburse her.

I was blinking like crazy (ok, maybe it was more of a twitch).
People should have gone to jail over that gross taxpayer theft. But since Dems, and their donors, were involved - the faithful Media smothered the Solyndra story with a pillow.
The Enemedia needs to go the way of the Dodo.

If she was driving a government supplied vehicle , the insurance would have been through the federal government therefore she would have filed with the federal government.

According to the article she was using a rented vehicle but it was being used for “work travel” so it was covered.

Another Car break in happened in San Francisco ? I’m shocked.

My daughter and son-in-law were visiting SF last year from Des Moines. Their rental SUV had a window smashed and my granddaughter's backpack was stolen. Good news is that my granddaughter didn't have $47,000 in jewelry inside.

Thieves know to target rental vehicles. Do not leave anything in your vehicle that can be seen from outside while parked. Thieves are also known to break windows just to get pocket change seen inside.

So she got less than 10% of the value of what was stolen, in accordance with policy. Where’s the beef?

Shall we wait for Politico to scour the reimbursements to Obama officials with equal fervor? We’ll all be dead first.

If the vehicle was rented by the government, the vehicle would have been self insured by the government just like every other government vehicle. Therefore the insurance company is the government.
