Immigration officials have quadrupled their workplace investigations into illegal hiring, so pressuring companies to offer more pay and more training to millions of young American workers in President Donald Trump’s “Hire American” economy.

ICE’s focus on workplace enforcement...opened 6,812 new workplace cases in the 2019 fiscal year, up from 1,701 during fiscal 2016. The agency made 2,048 administrative arrests, primarily of illegal immigrants, up roughly 500 from the year before.

Trump’s tightening labor market is also forcing company owners to restart training programs for young Americans, according to another report in the Wall Street Journal...Companies are increasingly competing with each other for workers, offering early recruitment, more pay, and better training.

DHS officials are also promising to arrest more company owners for hiring illegals. Matt Allen, a top official at the DHS’s Homeland Security Investigations arm, told the Journal that officials expect to charge more of the company owners who employ illegals

The key is punishing the employers for hiring illegals in the first place.

This will do more for the economy, the social services and education sectors than the wall.

If the raids do not hurt the illegal workers children it will be enthusiastically accepted my more people.

If the sanctions and fines really tweak the employers and do not remain so miniscule as to be just “the cost of doing business”, the employers will quit hiring.

In 20016, as I remember, we pushed hared against a comprehensive, NAFTA, US Chamber of Commerce friendly bill and won.

The lines of trucks and cars heading for and lining up at border crossings were piled high with belongings. Those people were going back to families in Mexico or in many cases a home they still owned. It was a peaceful exodus.

Make no mistake about it. 20 % of Mexicans and now more illegals from all over the world will be more likely to go home if e-verify is strengthened and enforced.

This could be a big part of why the unemployment is so far down. Make companies hire actual US citizens.

Company owners employing illegals should be arrested, hanged, and forfeit all their corporate and personal assets.

I’m all for that except the hanging but i’ve always been slightly more moderate than most here :)

I THINK taking EVERYTHING from the owner is MORE than enough deterrent without having to kill them :)

Plus their families will go on welfare and we’ll end up carrying them for years. :)

That’s why Tyson Chicken and Smithfield Hams are shut down.... oh, wait, never mind. Anyone seen any business shut down or CEO’s residing down the row from Epstein’s cell for such crimes?

Like e-verify worked for Molly Tibbetts. Yeah, I know, she was a Trump hater and illegal status lover.

How about doing both.

Deport illegals, now working here, and then fine their bosses big time with potential jail time if they hire more.

Then, hammer anyone, who hires illegals from then on. Make the owners pay for the deportation costs of any illegals and their families while here illegally.

Hanging is too good. First dragging by trucks, tHen beaten, then hung.

Jail time, even if only for 30 days ("Oh dear, what will the Country Club members think of me now?"). Fines are "just a cost of doing business".
