That’s odd. I thought King Herod was bad to his people. Trump has been the best thing for the people, including the poor, the tired, the sick, etc., of any president in my lifetime.

I’m afraid it’s been going on behind the majesty of it all for a lot longer than we may ever know. The way Benedict was shunted aside for Francis to take his place was political intrigue of the highest order. I’ve had all the Theology and Philosophy classes which Jesuit universities always required, but I’ve also read the Bible on my own from Genesis to Revelations, although admittedly not the “approved” Latin Vulgate Edition. I’m a believer, but not a Catholic.

I can answer your question, “How many Catholics are under the influence of this Pope?”
The answer is: Not very many. Liberal Catholics love him and conservative Catholics treat him with skepticism and disbelief. As Pope he has no more influence in matters of secular political issues than any other Catholics including the laity. His influence is only as far as the people who listen to him and who like him. For Catholics who voted for DJT in 2016, nothing will change. They will treat Pope Francis’s statements on our border issues the same as they treat Nancy Pelosi’s views. [not at all]
